About Robert King

For the past 20 years, I have staked out a place on the Internet in order to draw attention to Bible prophecy as it relates to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the falsehood of the Watchtower's 1914 doctrine.

When You Catch Sight of the Disgusting Thing

In the previous article the Watchtower’s teaching regarding the beast of Revelation having already received the death-stroke was put to the test and demonstrated to be untrue. This blog entry more closely scrutinizes the brief comments from the September 15th, 2012, Watchtower, and Jehovah's Witnesses belief that the holy place destined for desolation is Babylon the great.

In accord with the wise apostle’s exhortation, again, let us put this “inspired expression” to the test. Here is an excerpt from paragraph five of the leading article:

What yet unseen event will take place next? Paul stated: “Whenever it is that they are saying: ‘Peace and security!’ then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them.” The first phase of this “sudden destruction” is the attack against “Babylon the Great,” the world empire of false religion, also known as “the harlot.” (Rev. 17:5, 6, 15) That attack against all forms of false religion, including Christendom, is the start of the “great tribulation.” (Matt. 24:21; 2 Thess. 2:8)

The article merely cites Matthew 24:21, the context of which says: “Therefore, when you catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place, (let the reader use discernment,) then let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains. Let the man on the housetop not come down to take the goods out of his house; and let the man in the field not return to the house to pick up his outer garment. Woe to the pregnant women and those suckling a baby in those days! Keep praying that your flight may not occur in wintertime, nor on the sabbath day; for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.”

Clearly, Jesus' words of warning were directed to his followers who would be living during times of judgment and who would be required to obey his command to abandon what had been held to be sacred when a certain development occurs.

Testing the Watchtower’s “Inspired Expressions”

Whenever they are saying "peace and security."“Earthshaking events will soon occur,” states the opening words of the September 15, 2012, Watchtower study edition. The article enumerates several developments that Jehovah Witnesses expect to occur in the near future. What are they, exactly?

Number one, the beginning of the day of Jehovah, which, as Paul foretold, will arrive as unexpectedly as a sneaking thief in the night – “whenever it is they are saying ‘peace and security.’”

The Watchtower surmises, that, included among the “they” who will be saying “peace and security” are the clergy, and then “they” will experience the foretold “sudden destruction.” The reasoning behind that is the belief that the day of Jehovah begins with the great tribulation and the tribulation will begin when the United Nations will suddenly, violently, eradicate organized religion throughout the entire world. For many decades Jehovah’s Witnesses have been in a state of expectation of this event as the next major fulfillment of prophecy. The article continues:

WatchTower’s Stunning Loss

It is being called an unprecedented ruling. And it has gone against the Watchtower Society.

A California jury has ruled against the Fremont North congregation elders, and also against the Watchtower in New York, and awarded damages totaling $28 million to Candace Conti, who was sexually abused by a congregation member when she was nine years old.

Jim McCabe, the losing attorney for Jehovah’s Witnesses, said he was stunned and called the ruling “outrageous” - vowing to appeal. However, in a press release Bill Bowen, the founder of Silentlambs, called it “a watershed moment for children’s safety in the Jehovah’s Witnesses.”

The Crash of the Euro

his is part two, a continuation of the article entitled “There Will Stand Up A King Fierce in Countenance.”

When Jesus walked the earth he revealed that Satan the Devil is the real ruler of the world. In fact, Satan himself boasted of that very fact when tempting Christ to worship him. The account of the matter is recorded in the fourth chapter of Luke:

“So he brought him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in an instant of time; and the Devil said to him: ‘I will give you all this authority and the glory of them, because it has been delivered to me, and to whomever I wish I give it. You, therefore, if you do an act of worship before me, it will all be yours.’ In reply Jesus said to him: “It is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’””

Although, as the Devil said, all the kingdoms of the world have been delivered to him (temporarily), God has never abdicated his own throne.

That is evident from the occasions when Jehovah has intervened in human affairs; for example, when Cyrus overthrew Babylon and allowed the captive Jews to go free, which God had foretold two hundred-years in advance – before the Jews even went into captivity! Or when a thousand years before that Jehovah crushed Pharaoh and his army of crack charioteers under the surging waters of the Red Sea, achieving the same result of liberating a captive people.

Ultimately, because he is Almighty and Wise, God always accomplishes his purpose. There is nothing any human or demon can do to prevent it. God even foretells long in advance the things that will take place.

There Will Stand Up a Fierce-looking King

This article was prompted by a question from a reader. For more questions from readers see the Mailbag.

QUESTION: In Daniel chapter 8 it talks about a goat whose horn is broken and gives rise to 4 more horns. Who are those 4 horns? Also, does Daniel 8 describe a nuclear attack? I am hoping you can explain Daniel 8 and how it applies to today.

______________________________________________

ANSWER: Although the Watchtower Society has convinced the millions of Jehovah’s Witnesses under its authority that virtually every aspect of the prophecy (And all other prophecy for that matter) has already been fulfilled, the prophecy regarding the king fierce in countenance is actually of the utmost relevance as regards the immediate future.

Although I have written a fair amount on this topic over the past ten years, in view of the imminent, catastrophic, collapse of the Euro Zone monetary and political system, and the even more destructive measures that are sure to be taken to prevent the inevitable, it seems timely to revisit this amazing piece of God’s prophetic puzzle in this, and a subsequent article.

The Seed and the Serpent

The symbolism that Jehovah employed when issuing the original Edenic prophecy regarding the serpent bruising the heel of the seed of the woman and the seed of the woman crushing the head of the serpent, would seem to be more fitting than is casually apparent.

On the one hand, Jehovah’s Witnesses have an appreciation of the paramount matter of Jehovah’s as-of-yet unresolved universal sovereignty, and the related issue regarding the faithfulness and integrity of all intelligent creation.

Jesus was, of course, the foremost witness of Jehovah and the grand champion of God’s rightful sovereignty. Having left the comfort and security of his lofty position next to God, Jesus willing exposed himself to the serpent Tempter; ultimately submitting himself to an unimaginably horrible, torturous death, in order to fully submit to Jehovah’s will; hence, the serpent bruised the seed upon the heel.

But Jehovah’s Witnesses are here behooved to consider the serpent bruising analogy in practical terms: Imagine yourself walking through a patch of tall grass and suddenly feeling a searing sting on your lower leg. Looking down you instantly realize you have been bitten by a venomous snake. A person’s instinctual reaction might be to stomp on the snake’s head and make sure it was crushed dead – so that it might not strike again. (Merely stomping upon the reptile’s body would more than likely result in another snakebite.)

THE MARCH TO WAR! What are the implications for the Society in the event of global war? We are now witnessing a massive military buildup in the Middle East and Asia. With the conquest of Iraq and Afghanistan dozens of military bases and staging areas have been set up in those devastated countries, as well as in compliant Arab states of the Persian Gulf region, for [...]

KINGDOM BULLETIN #5

Bethel: Is It Later Than You Think? The 2012 Special Talk posed an interesting question for all to ponder: Is it later than you think? The irony, though, is that the question is particularly relevant for the Governing Body and Bethel leadership of Jehovah’s Witnesses to consider themselves. Indeed, although most of Jehovah’s Witnesses will dismiss such a suggestion without any consideration, it is nonetheless incumbent upon [...]

Daniel and the Parousia

After having gone into mourning for three weeks in response to  experiencing the jarring vision of the climatic great military service  between the two rival kings, Daniel had an astounding experience of the  utmost relevance for Jehovah’s Witnesses today.

As the aged prophet walked on the bank of the Tigris River with some companions, he suddenly was confronted with a supernatural sight. Daniel relates the extraterrestrial encounter this way:

I also proceeded to raise my eyes and see, and here was a certain man clothed in linen, with his hips girded with gold of Uphaz. And his body was like chrysolite, and his face like the appearance of lightning, and his eyes like fiery torches, and his arms and the place of his feet were like the sight of burnished copper, and the sound of his words was like the sound of a crowd. And I saw, I Daniel by myself, the appearance; but as for the men that happened to be with me, they did not see the appearance. However, there was a great trembling that fell upon them, so that they went running away in hiding themselves. And I—I was left remaining by myself, so that I saw this great appearance. And there was left remaining in me no power, and my own dignity became changed upon me to ruination, and I retained no power. And I began hearing the sound of his words; and while I was hearing the sound of his words, I myself also happened to be fast asleep upon my face, with my face to the earth.

Prior to this great appearance Daniel had a similar encounter with the angel Gabriel, which also left the prophet in a trembling, lifeless heap on the ground. But apparently, the second appearance was even more overwhelming than the first.

THE COMING COLLAPSE OF THE WATCH TOWER SOCIETY As Jesus viewed Jerusalem for the very last time he wept, saying: “If you, even you, had discerned in this day the things having to do with peace—but now they have been hid from your eyes.
