About Robert King

For the past 20 years, I have staked out a place on the Internet in order to draw attention to Bible prophecy as it relates to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the falsehood of the Watchtower's 1914 doctrine.

Watchtower Society Hedge Fund

This is a revision and an update from a previous blog entry.

Apparently this is to be an annual occurrence, necessitated by the fact that the Watchtower sends representatives to an annual hedge fund conference about this time every year, and I, accordingly, am compelled to publicize their unseemly affairs. (The Watch Tower Society is on the 2012 attendees list under Investors.)

But what is wrong with the Watchtower investing in hedge funds? For one thing, the Society is a tax-exempt organization based upon the supposition that it is a non-profit institution. (Not to be confused with its non-prophet status) But is it even ethical for a non-profit organization to operate as a hedge fund or to invest in hedge funds seeking maximum profits? At the very least it is questionable and may even violate the rules governing tax-exempt organizations. Ultimately, their avarice may well be their undoing, as it is not out of the question that they may at some point lose their tax-exempt status for this very reason.

But it is not just that. Everything the Watchtower does now is either done to save money or to make money. For example, some assembly halls have evidently installed cash machines so that Jehovah's Witnesses can donate money straight out of their bank accounts. Apparently the donation boxes at every exit just weren’t enough. (Be reminded that Jesus became indignant because of the presence of moneychangers in his Father’s temple.)

On the other hand, it has come to my attention that this year the Watchtower asked Jehovah’s Witnesses (at least in France) to print copies of the convention program off the Internet to save the Society the printing expense. Apparently, that means that in their view it is a waste of money to provide programs for those who attend their conventions and that the money might be more wisely allocated by placing million dollar bets with the high rollers in the global financial casino. The Society’s sophisticated money masters make the Miracle Wheat fiasco of the organization’s founder seem amateurish by comparison.

Bethel, Do you really need more lawyers?

My wife’s sister is an active Jehovah’s Witness. The two spoke recently and my dear sister-in-law, intent on encouraging us to "come back," related that the Watchtower has cleaned up its act lately, at least as regards its child abuse policy.  Unfortunately, she has had first hand experience in dealing with the Watchtower on this issue because a teenaged boy in the congregation molested her eight [...]

My Visit to CT Russell’s Grave Site

I had an occasion to go to Pittsburgh with my wife recently. I had never been there before. It’s a lovely city, nestled on the edge of the Allegheny Mountains. It is called "the city of bridges" because there are so many spans that cross the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, which converge to form the mighty Ohio River. On our trip home we stopped by the [...]

Reflections on the God Particle

Science touts itself as the Explainer of all things physical; that is to say, all observable phenomenon in the universe; the universe being that which is detectable and measurable in some fashion. (Incidentally, Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as being: "the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld." By definition that places true faith outside the scope and purview of science.) [...]

Jesus, what have they done to you now?

A few weeks ago someone sent me a screen shot of an illustration from one of the Watchtower’s latest brochures, the one entitled Good News From God. Apparently the subliminal artists are still at it. And why shouldn’t they be?  The illustration posted here is, of course, rotated 90 degrees so as to stand the “mountain range” vertically on its end. The subliminal image is a bearded Christ [...]

Their Heart Has Become Hypocritical

Since the rebellion in Eden God’s purpose has been to produce a seed. Because of his faith Abraham was chosen as the one through whom the seed would eventually come. Abraham’s grandson, Jacob, whose name God changed to Israel, had twelve sons that produced the twelve tribes of Israel. For that reason in later centuries God referred to the nation as “Jacob” and more commonly “Israel.”

Eventually, Judah produced the Christ and after that others were anointed to become part of the seed along with Jesus. Because they are to be the actual seed of blessing God promised would come through Abraham, the Christian seed is the real Israel of God. Paul explained these things in his letter to the Galatians.

At any rate, the Christian Israel of God became corrupt too, just like Israel had before it – even as the founding apostles foretold would occur. But before the conclusion of the system a new generation of anointed persons would appear in the world, thus constituting the Israel of God in modern times. Since its inception the Watchtower Society has been the seedbed for anointed Christians (and consequently the weed patch as well) first called the International Bible Students and since 1931, Jehovah's Witnesses; making Bethel a sort of capital city for the spiritual nation that has formed.

When You Catch Sight of the Disgusting Thing

In the previous article the Watchtower’s teaching regarding the beast of Revelation having already received the death-stroke was put to the test and demonstrated to be untrue. This blog entry more closely scrutinizes the brief comments from the September 15th, 2012, Watchtower, and Jehovah's Witnesses belief that the holy place destined for desolation is Babylon the great.

In accord with the wise apostle’s exhortation, again, let us put this “inspired expression” to the test. Here is an excerpt from paragraph five of the leading article:

What yet unseen event will take place next? Paul stated: “Whenever it is that they are saying: ‘Peace and security!’ then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them.” The first phase of this “sudden destruction” is the attack against “Babylon the Great,” the world empire of false religion, also known as “the harlot.” (Rev. 17:5, 6, 15) That attack against all forms of false religion, including Christendom, is the start of the “great tribulation.” (Matt. 24:21; 2 Thess. 2:8)

The article merely cites Matthew 24:21, the context of which says: “Therefore, when you catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place, (let the reader use discernment,) then let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains. Let the man on the housetop not come down to take the goods out of his house; and let the man in the field not return to the house to pick up his outer garment. Woe to the pregnant women and those suckling a baby in those days! Keep praying that your flight may not occur in wintertime, nor on the sabbath day; for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.”

Clearly, Jesus' words of warning were directed to his followers who would be living during times of judgment and who would be required to obey his command to abandon what had been held to be sacred when a certain development occurs.

Testing the Watchtower’s “Inspired Expressions”

Whenever they are saying "peace and security."“Earthshaking events will soon occur,” states the opening words of the September 15, 2012, Watchtower study edition. The article enumerates several developments that Jehovah Witnesses expect to occur in the near future. What are they, exactly?

Number one, the beginning of the day of Jehovah, which, as Paul foretold, will arrive as unexpectedly as a sneaking thief in the night – “whenever it is they are saying ‘peace and security.’”

The Watchtower surmises, that, included among the “they” who will be saying “peace and security” are the clergy, and then “they” will experience the foretold “sudden destruction.” The reasoning behind that is the belief that the day of Jehovah begins with the great tribulation and the tribulation will begin when the United Nations will suddenly, violently, eradicate organized religion throughout the entire world. For many decades Jehovah’s Witnesses have been in a state of expectation of this event as the next major fulfillment of prophecy. The article continues:

WatchTower’s Stunning Loss

It is being called an unprecedented ruling. And it has gone against the Watchtower Society.

A California jury has ruled against the Fremont North congregation elders, and also against the Watchtower in New York, and awarded damages totaling $28 million to Candace Conti, who was sexually abused by a congregation member when she was nine years old.

Jim McCabe, the losing attorney for Jehovah’s Witnesses, said he was stunned and called the ruling “outrageous” - vowing to appeal. However, in a press release Bill Bowen, the founder of Silentlambs, called it “a watershed moment for children’s safety in the Jehovah’s Witnesses.”

The Crash of the Euro

his is part two, a continuation of the article entitled “There Will Stand Up A King Fierce in Countenance.”

When Jesus walked the earth he revealed that Satan the Devil is the real ruler of the world. In fact, Satan himself boasted of that very fact when tempting Christ to worship him. The account of the matter is recorded in the fourth chapter of Luke:

“So he brought him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in an instant of time; and the Devil said to him: ‘I will give you all this authority and the glory of them, because it has been delivered to me, and to whomever I wish I give it. You, therefore, if you do an act of worship before me, it will all be yours.’ In reply Jesus said to him: “It is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’””

Although, as the Devil said, all the kingdoms of the world have been delivered to him (temporarily), God has never abdicated his own throne.

That is evident from the occasions when Jehovah has intervened in human affairs; for example, when Cyrus overthrew Babylon and allowed the captive Jews to go free, which God had foretold two hundred-years in advance – before the Jews even went into captivity! Or when a thousand years before that Jehovah crushed Pharaoh and his army of crack charioteers under the surging waters of the Red Sea, achieving the same result of liberating a captive people.

Ultimately, because he is Almighty and Wise, God always accomplishes his purpose. There is nothing any human or demon can do to prevent it. God even foretells long in advance the things that will take place.
