When is the Lord’s Day?

//When is the Lord’s Day?

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe the Lord’s day began 100 years ago this month, evidenced by the First World War. But a careful consideration of related Bible terms reveals otherwise.

The expression “the Lord’s day” only appears one place in the Bible — at Revelation 1:10, where John wrote: “By inspiration I came to be in the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a strong voice like that of a trumpet.”

That expression is especially appropriate at the beginning of the book of Revelation because the things that the entranced apostle saw in vision are the things that must occur during the Lord’s day.

The judgments contained within Revelation begin when the symbolic scroll — sealed with seven seals — is unsealed, one seal at a time. Then the seven trumpets are sounded and the seven bowls containing the seven plagues of God’s anger are poured out —the seventh plague being poured out upon the nations gathered to the place called Armageddon. These are the things that must take place during the Lord’s day.

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe the Lord’s day began in 1914. In fact, those unacquainted with the teachings of the organization might be astonished to learn that the Watchtower teaches that virtually everything, including the unsealing of the scroll, the angelic trumpet blasts and the pouring out of the bowls of God’s anger, have already occurred— all except the emptying of the last bowl.

If Jehovah’s Witnesses are correct, this might naturally lead reasoning persons to conclude that the judgments contained in Revelation do not amount to much.

But the question Jehovah’s Witnesses, themselves, ought to ponder is whether the Lord’s day actually began in 1914. Is there any way to definitively determine if it has?

Actually, although the expression “the Lord’s day” only appears in one place in the Bible there are several synonymous expressions in the Christian Greek letters, listed below.

“He will also make you firm to the end so that you may be open to no accusation in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 1:8

“When you are gathered together in the name of our Lord Jesus, and knowing that I am with you in spirit along with the power of our Lord Jesus, you must hand such a man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 5:5

“For we are really not writing you about anything except what you can read and understand, and I hope you will continue to understand these things fully, just as you have also understood to an extent that we are a cause for you to boast, just as you will also be for us in the day of our Lord Jesus.2 Corinthians 1:13-14

“For I am confident of this very thing, that he who started a good work in you will carry it to completion until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6

“…that you may make sure of the more important things, so that you may be flawless and not stumbling others up to the day of Christ…”Philippians 1:10

No one ought to be so unreasonable so as to suggest that the “day of the Lord”, or “the day of Jesus Christ” is a different day than “the Lord’s day” of Revelation. No one would suggest that “the day of Jehovah” is not the same thing as “Jehovah’s day.”

Today, we are well along in “theLord’s day.” Soon, Christ will destroy Satan’s entire wicked system of things and deliver God’s people. – WT 05/1-15

Also, it should be evident to any unbiased person that the various renderings of the day of our Lord (cited above) refer to the end of the Christian era. For example, at 1 Corinthians 1:8 Paul connects the day of our Lord to “the end.” Likewise, 1 Corinthians 5:5 equates the day of the Lord with salvation of those Christians living then. Similarly, at Philippians 1:6 the apostle indicates that the day of Jesus brings the work of disciple-making to a completion.

Since the Christian era has obviously not concluded yet, what Scriptural basis is there for Jehovah’s Witnesses to believe the Lord’s day has already begun?

Jehovah’s Witnesses will likely resort to explaining how the seven times ended in 1914 and so that is how they know the Lord’s day began then. But if the Lord’s day began in 1914 that means the day of Jesus Christ has arrived too, they being one and the same. Since it is beyond dispute that the day of our Lord has not begun why does the Watchtower continue to teach that the Lord’s day has? Clearly, it is a case of “double-faced divination” and the use of a “tricky tongue,” or pen, as the case may be, all for the purpose of promoting the delusion that the day of the Lord has already arrived.

I have a question for you. instead of the “seven times” being only 2,520 days, or 1,260 + 1,260, would it not be fitting to count the days as 1,290 + 1,335 = 2,625? Daniel 12:11,12

This would then mean that although the 2,520 day mark in 1914 was important, the “seven times” will not be fulfilled until 2019.

Does this seem plausible to you?

What I think is more interesting is what the WT has ignored about what happened at the 1,260 days and 1,290 days, “at the half of the week.” Daniel 9:27

This was in 654 and 684, respectively. This was the time the Myslims were taking over the Middle East and the ancient bible lands. In 655 there was the Battle of the Masts, and the Muslims actually were based on Kittim/Cyprus. Daniel 11:29, 30

And in 685, the Dome of the Rock began construction, supposedly on top of the ruins of Solomon’s ancient temple. Do you know what it says on the walls inside? It is taken from the Quran, and among other things says “God has no son” and attributes death to God.

And the constant feature, or continual sacrifice, would be Jesus Christ’s sacrifice. Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet, but not the Christ. They do not believe he even died, but was taken straight to heaven in the same manner as Elijah. They do not have his sacrifice. And 1 John 2:22…

In Daniel 11:44 says reports will come from the east and the north… Iraq is to the east of Israel, and Syria is to the north. What a coincidence.

My head its hurting trying to follow all this. But if all these dates have a significant roll or point to an important date, there’s probably no need to rack our brains trying to figure it out. There will be a time when the Holy Spirit is poured out upon the Holy ones and the menservants and maidservants. Then, in Jehovah’s due time it will be revealed what we don’t yet know. I can’t recall the scriptures but if you can’t find them, ask Bklyn Kevin.
I noticed one of your more recent posts: “I’m pretty sure the things that have happened, the things that have been going through my head, that I might be annointed but I can’t be because I’m DFed.” I understand why you might entertain that thought. When suddenly, after feeling so confused and distressed, Jehovah shows you the real truth, and you realize that He has actually undeniably personally gave you attention. He has revealed things that not Even members of the governing body know. You think “why would the Creator give me, 1 of 7 billion humans on earth, this knowledge. Is he preparing me to be anointed?” Forgive me if I’m being overly presumptuous or took your statement wrong, but as I read it, I could relate. Robert told of his experience when he was anointed and its undeniable. If you wonder if you are, your not. Interestingly though, he was anointed even after being DF’d if memory serves me correctly. He told of his experience in a couple of his podcasts. Again, Bklyn Kevin may know.
It’s thrilling to read your posts and to see your written expressions that convey your relief and gratitude in finding ( no coincidence) that you have not been waisting your life by being associated with the Watchtower. No matter who you are, to know Jehovah, you have had to have received basic Bible knowledge from that “earthly organization”.
My suggestion to you is, if you haven’t, read Roberts book and listen to all the archived podcasts. And welcome to our addiction.

      • Cate

Thank you for your kind words. What happened to me, well, there one thing that happened at home, and then something else, and then a few months later, in an elders meeting, I had the guts to confess something, but my head had screwed it around a little, and after I showed them something i found in the insight book all three of the whites of their eyes turned wine red. And then one said to me, “We don’t want anyone to know about this.” When that happened, it reminded me of Daniel 12, when he sees the three angles standing by the river. He mentions how the one has “eyes like fiery torches.” Daniel 10:6 And it wasn’t too long after that that I read Daniel, over and over, trying to understand the meaning. Praying and feeling like Daniel did, when he said he was so weak and numbed. I grew up with the Pay Attention to Daniel’s Prophecy book, and it just seemed like some things were off from my understanding just reading the bible its own. Of course I have been reading the rest of the bible too, only it always hits me so hard. And I read Ezekiel 33, and… If the seven times are really going to end in 2019/2020, isn’t that the sword that Jehovah has granted me to see coming? Don’t i need to do something with this information that I have been given? “Happy is he who arrives in expectation at the 1,335 days” shouldn’t as many people as possible know that’s when it might all hit the fan and they need to get themselves right with God? But that’s been the witness message the whole time. So… I just don’t know. I have been trying to tell the brothers this, and I don’t know how that’s going. Slow, that’s for sure. At least I haven’t been accused of disloyalty or anything. I mean, I’m already DFed, what more can they do to me?

Thank you! The information about Egypt has really helped me. I’m glad I live so close to Canada, perhaps I will immigrate lol.

I Will Pour Out My Spirit on Every Sort of Flesh. Read more>
The prophecy of Joel is a window to the future – the immediate future! I suggest that you read the short Hebrew book. Think about it. Meditate upon it. Doing so, you will surely realize that Jehovah’s Witnesses have no understanding of its contents. Far from symbolizing Jehovah’s Witnesses, the locusts, caterpillar and cockroach invasion represents the destructive army Jehovah will acquisition to wreck the world and bring the Watchtower’s preaching and disciple-making work to a sudden and jarring halt. It will serve as the precursor to the day of Jehovah and a shocking wake-up call to the spiritual drunkards.

In the aftermath of that unprecedented calamity and call to repentance, Joel 2:28-31 states: “After that I will pour out my spirit on every sort of flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. And even on my male slaves and female slaves I will pour out my spirit in those days. And I will give wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the coming of the great and awe-inspiring day of Jehovah.”

I did try to use the mailbag, but the site is a little glitchy. There were just empty boxes.

I would like to talk about the WTs chronology. They have insisted that the desolation of the temple was in 607 bce, while the rest of secular history puts the date about 30 years after around 587 bce.

They do this because they count back from the time Cyrus allowed the Israelites to return to Jerusalem 70 years. The “All Scripture” explains that the seventy years started when Gedaliah was assassinated shortly after the temple and all of Jerusalem was burned.

In Jeremiah 25:11, it specifically mentions that they will “serve” the King of Babylon. This started with King Jehoiakim. And in Jeremiah 25:1, this prophecy was given to Jeremiah “in the fourth year of Jehoiakim.” But Jehoiakim was put on the throne by Pharoah. 2 Kings 23:34

Jeremiah 29:10-12 is also very interesting, it talks about how long they will be exiled in Babylon. When dos the exile start? Daniel 1:1 tells us it was “in the third year of the kingship of Jehoiakim.” Secular history puts his reign starting in 609 or 608 bce, which would make “in the third year” would be 607 or 606 bce, possibly even 605. Secular history puts Nebuchadnezzar’s reign starting in 605 bce.

That would mean that all of the dates before this are off.

I do believe that Jeremiah 29:12 was fulfilled by Daniel in Daniel 9. Isaiah 39:7 I also believe was fulfilled by Daniel and his companions, and “court officials” is a sad interpretation of “eunuch.”

I also think it is very interesting that Revelation 7:4-8 does not include Dan. But someone had to be missing for Joseph to get a double portion.

And about the seven times, why has Genesis 4:15 ever been applied to that? Isn’t this what is ultimately being fulfilled? It’s about death… which was never part of the plan from the beginning.

Malachi 2:7 “for the lips of a priest should safeguard knowledge”

I’ve said too much. To defame Islam is something they do not take lightly. And i still am not 100% convinced that they haven’t been directed by God, somehow. I don’t know… Its a mess in this world, I will tell you that. And every person living in the Middle East has reason to hate America and all the other nations that just keep bombing them. How many middle easterners have been killed at the hands of America? We don’t even know the number. And no one seems to care about them. They are serving the god that they know, better than “Christians” are serving their God. But again, it depends on every person individually. we will all be held accountable for our own errors. Mine too…

“A Man Without A Country” (it’s a book by Kurt Vonnegut) That’s what I feel like right now. Truthfully, I always have.

    • this site tells the truth. if thers something about it that isnt right for you then what conflict are you having? Robert isnt perfect just like you and the rest of us (Psalms 138:3) but Jesus is. so follow Jesus example. Robert is doing that.

    • 1914for100Alex

Hi Cate. Regarding the last part of your post, I think I know what you’re saying. I haven’t seen many podcasts due to limited Internet, but I have read many of Robert’s posts. I’m not bothered by his style, but I’ve occasionally read things he’s said and thought “if I were to put myself in a random JW’s shoes and read this, I would maybe take offense and leave”. I’ve seen him use words such as “stupid” to describe people, but keep in mind so does the Bible. Robert can be blunt at times, and I can relate to that. It may be off putting to some, but sometimes when you know you’re right, it just comes out. The important thing is his message, not the delivery. If someone you don’t like tells you the sky is blue, does it make their statement less true? If I’m reading what you’re saying wrong, let me know. Maybe you could give some examples and we could help you out. As many have said, you’re definitely in the right place.

      • Bklyn Kevin

        “POW”. Nicely expressed thank you.

        John 8:
45 Because I, on the other hand, tell you the truth, you do not believe me.
46 Who of you convicts me of sin? If I speak truth, why is it that you do not believe me?
47 The one who is from God listens to the sayings of God. This is why you do not listen, because you are not from God.

        John 15:

18 If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.
19 If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.

20 Keep in mind the word I said to you: A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have observed my word, they will also observe yours.

21 But they will do all these things against you on account of my name, because they do not know the One who sent me.

22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin. But now they have no excuse for their sin.

23 Whoever hates me also hates my Father.

Hiya Cate, I agree with you that it’s horrific at the killing that’s done to the people in the Middle East, but they’re also slaughtering each other too. One of my best friends is a Muslim girl, she’s a Sunni, and that group class themselves above the other Muslim groups for something bad that was done against the Phrophet’s grandson or his family. From what my friend Naz has told me about her religion, there’s a lot of divisions within it….no unity. And I’m not being funny but this site IS the right one for you as you come across as being confused and sensitive at the vile things that are happening in the world. As for those who says that Brother King need a little more humility well he’s not perfect yet, like all of us. I like how he will say it as it is……a person like that you can trust, also when he kicks off I find it funny because he’s human! No different to any of us.

    • Bklyn Kevin

Cate said” – I’ve said too much. To defame Islam is something they do not take lightly. And i still am not 100% convinced that they haven’t been directed by God, somehow. I don’t know…

A good question to ask yourself……

If the Muslims are directed by Jehovah then how come they “do not” recognize Jesus as the son of GOD??? .
And if you’re still not 100% sure after reading these scriptures below then perhaps it’s you who are the one who’s lacking not only humility but also Jehovah’s holy spirit.

      1 John 4:
2 This is how you know that the inspired statement is from God: Every inspired statement that acknowledges Jesus Christ as having come in the flesh originates with God.
3 But every inspired statement that does not acknowledge Jesus does not originate with God. Furthermore, this is the antichrist’s inspired statement that you have heard was coming, and now it is already in the world. To

      1 Corinthians 12:3.
Now I would have you know that nobody when speaking by God’s spirit says: “Jesus is accursed!” and nobody can say: “Jesus is Lord!” except by holy spirit

      • patri

I couldn’t think of the scriptures you’ve quoted Kevin but I was thinking similarly to verse 3, 1john4.
Vonnegut was influenced by Huxley’s Brave New World and Wells’ 1984. Bit too Scooby doo for myself to identify with. And…Who are “some of these brothers who say Robert needs more humility”? Not that I mind who they are…

        • Bklyn Kevin

The truth is Islam on a whole recognize Jesus as a prophet but nonetheless they reject Jesus as being the son of Jehovah so quite frankly that makes them an antichrist and in reality the same can be said about Christendom as well due to their Trinitarian doctrine teachings.

Whoever is not on my side is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
          Matthew 12:.30

      • Cate

Yes, I’m just… Concerned as to why it came about to fulfill the prophecy of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, because as you said they do not have the continual sacrifice of Jesus Christ. But it did fulfill prophecy. But you can’t say what I just said unless you want the Muslims to come kill you or something.

        • Bklyn Kevin

What fulfilled prophecy?. Could you explain your complete thought and could you please incorporate some scriptures.

And what are you trying to tell me when you said”
But you can’t say what I just said unless you want the Muslims to come kill you or something.

        • 1914for100Alex

I’m confused too. Did you edit your original post, or are you referring to a post elsewhere? I’m not sure how you got on the Islam subject, or prophecy being fulfilled, but we’re here to help.

          • Cate

I’m sorry, I posted too much stuff on here earlier and I feel like it’s too early to say something.

I was reading Daniel, a lot… Like a lot a lot. Praying for understanding. Comparing Pay Attention to Daniels Prophecy to things written by Isaac Newton. But mostly the bible.

So, the “seven times” leading to 1914 are now being explained as 1260 +1260, and reading Daniel 12:8-13
8 Now as for me, I heard, but I could not understand; so I said: “O my lord, what will be the outcome of these things?” 9 Then he said: “Go, Daniel, because the words are to be kept secret and sealed up until the time of the end. 10 Many will cleanse themselves and whiten themselves and will be refined. And the wicked ones will act wickedly, and none of the wicked will understand; but those having insight will understand. 11 “And from the time that the constant feature has been removed and the disgusting thing that causes desolation has been put in place, there will be 1,290 days. 12 “Happy is the one who keeps in expectation and who arrives at the 1,335 days! 13 “But as for you, go on to the end. You will rest, but you will stand up for your lot at the end of the days.”

            So… We have 1,290 and 1,335. Why not these time periods instead? So 1,290 + 1,335 = 2,625. That is 105 days, or 3 1/2 months, longer than 2,520.

Which would end in 2019, of the math is correct from the society. And if the dates check out.

            Daniel 9:27
“And he will keep the covenant in force for the many for one week; and at the half of the week, he will cause sacrifice and gift offering to cease.“And on the wing of disgusting things there will be the one causing desolation; and until an extermination, what was decided on will be poured out also on the one lying desolate.”

Something happened at the half of the week.

            Daniel 9:29, 30
“At the time appointed he will return and come against the south. But this time will not be as it was before, 30 for the ships of Kitʹtim will come against him, and he will be humbled.”

I’m pretty sure that was the Battle of the Masts in 655. That would have been at the 1,261 days after 607 bce. If Kittim is Cyprus.

I’ve been going over this so much, and I have so much more to say about it but I get windy.

            • Cate, those time periods are not outside the great tribulation yet to come

            • Bklyn Kevin

If the great tribulation is supposed to be 3 1/2 years
then how do we account for Daniels 1290 days as well as the 1335 days which go over the allotted time of 3 1/2 years?

            • im unaware of scripture explaining its 3&1/2 years

            • Bklyn Kevin

              That’s my conclusion as well.

You know the old saying , “think outside of the box”, well in this case you not only have to “think inside the box” but also respect its perimeter.
The box being 2,520 days or 7 years, because that’s what the scriptures allude to.

Read my comments for more details on the subject.>

The meaning of the 7 times of Nebuchadnezzar’s madness?

            • 1914for100Alex

I read your comments and I think we’re on the same page. I think some of these numbers can be summed up with one word: Overlap. We have the big picture, which is the seven years, and then several different things that occur throughout those seven years, and last for a specified amount of time.

            • Bklyn Kevin

Yes the big picture as it were of future events yet to occur within a seven year time frame.

The appointed times of the nation’s are just that- an appointment on Jehovah’s celestial calendar when he metes out complete divine justice but not only on the nation’s but also on his own people and for a period of no less then 7 times or seven years ‘cause that’s what the scriptures allude to.

However the reader should take note that the appointed time, times, and half a time that is mentioned in Daniel 7:25 falls within the perimeter of the seven times of Jehovah’s complete divine judgment.
And in the final part of their kingdom, as the transgressors act to a completion, a fierce-looking king who understands ambiguous sayings will stand up. His power will become great, but not through his own power. He will bring ruin in an extraordinary way, and he will be successful and act effectively. He will bring mighty ones to ruin, also the people made up of the holy ones. Daniel 8:23-24.

            • if 2,520 days, how many days get cut from the alluded 7 years?

            • 1914for100Alex

I’m assuming you’re referencing Matthew 24:22? I could be wrong, but I take it to mean that if Jehovah were to allow the tribulation to last longer than seven years without Jesus stepping in, we’d nuke ourselves into oblivion.

The great tribulation which is 3 1/2 years or 1,260 days starts in the middle of the week and then gets cut short by five months or 150 days in the second half of the week on day 1,110 at which point the chosen ones will give a final witness for five months only to be put to death on day 1,260 at the end of the second half of the week at this point the chosen ones will be resurrected in a blink of an eye and Armageddon ensues.

Revelation 9:5/10/11 .Also, they have tails with stingers like scorpions, and in their tails is their authority to hurt the people for five months.
They have over them a king, the angel of the abyss. In Hebrew his name is A·badʹdon, but in Greek he has the name A·polʹlyon.

Revelation 16:14 They are, in fact, expressions inspired by demons and they perform signs, and they go out to the kings of the entire inhabited earth, to gather them together to the war of the great day of God the Almighty.
Revelation 16:16 And they gathered them together to the place that is called in Hebrew Armageddon.
Revelation 19:19 And I saw the wild beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the one seated on the horse and against his army.

Excerpt from A Great Tribulation https://e-watchman.com/a-great-tribulation/
The coming tumult will far exceed the horrors of the previous global conflicts —bringing mankind face-to-face with extinction, in what Jesus referred to as a great tribulation. According to Jesus unless those days were cut short no flesh would be saved.

            • the dilemma i have with that equation is the days cant get cut 150 and the final witness be given for 150 days at the same time unless “days cut short” are not the literal days that get cut but the harmful situations of tribulation

              Revelation 6:7-8 .
When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say: “Come!”
And I saw, and look! a pale horse, and the one seated on it had the name Death. And authority was given them over the “fourth part” of the earth, “to kill” with a long sword and with food shortage and with deadly plague and by the wild beasts of the earth.

              Matthew 24:22
In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short

The wild beast Is allowed / given the authority to kill ¼ / a fourth part of the earth of mankind.

Now roughly their are eight billion people in the world today and Satan will be allowed to kill one ¼ and ¼ would represent two billion
Now certainly the killing of two billion people would be considered a genocide and for sure if Satan had his way he would probably annihilate all eight billion people however Jehovah cuts the days / genocide short on the account of the chosen ones so that they can commence with the final preaching and it’s at that point in time the
chosen ones would have been refined like silver and gold and the chosen ones would have been brought back to it’s right condition. Daniel 8:14. Daniel 12:10

Then the chosen ones will embark in the final preaching
work for five months. Revelation 9:5. Revelation 10: 11.

D34D 4L!3N has been working on a time line and it was looking promising but I’m afraid at present he has been undergoing some trials and tribulations of his own and I’m sure Satan has something to do with that, perhaps we all could mention him in our prayers.
However I myself have been working on a timeline for the last year and much of it is based on Roberts notes which have been very inspirational. nonetheless it’s still not complete but I assure you when it is I will share it with all of you.

Mark 13:32 “Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father.

The bottom line is If Jesus doesn’t know the day or hour nor do the angels but only Jehovah,
how would it be possible for you to know? Unless you are Jehovah himself.

However all though it is possible to discern the events that will take place during that hour it would still be impossible to pinpoint that exact day in which it would start because only Jehovah knows the day and hour as well as chooses it.

Hi Cate. Regarding the numbers 1290 and 1335, I’m not seeing a reason to add them together. Someone correct me if the way I see it is wrong because I don’t want to add to any confusion, but I’m reading it as those two numbers being part of the same timeline. As in the, the 1335 matches the 1290 day for day, plus an additional 45 days (1290 + 45 = 1335). The Bible says: 12 “Happy is the one who keeps in expectation and who arrives at the 1,335 days!” right after it says “…the disgusting thing that causes desolation has been put in place, there will be 1,290 days.”

Happy is the one who arrives at the 1335 days sounds to me like something special happens at a point past the 1290 days. If all of these numbers are within the GT, then I would have to assume that the 1335th day would be the day after Armageddon. Again, not to confuse anyone, but is it possible Armageddon only lasts 45 days? I know we’re over 3 1/2 years using the 1335, but not by that much. Maybe Jehovah ballparked it to keep us on our toes 🙂

As far as these prophecies being fulfilled in the past, I’m just not seeing it. I don’t mean that there aren’t bits and pieces that look like they fit, but you have to take into consideration all the end time prophesies and see if they all fit a given time period. Believe me, it’s confusing for all of us. Ok, maybe not Robert. He makes it look easy, but for the rest of us it can be hard lol.

Personally, I’m not going to keep rereading something over and over if it just keeps confusing me more and more. I understand why you keep doing it though. You’re hoping something will click. My suggestion would be to take a break from that particular book, and maybe concentrate on others. The book of Daniel is not light reading, and there’s a reason it’s meaning was sealed up until the appropriate time. Hope this helps!

The Hindu god Rama or also called as Ramachandra is an incarnation of god Vishnu in human form. The Vishnu god is actually an fallen angel during the time of Noah if you deeply research the Hindu mythology (as I did), may be these were lived before the time of flood. He had a wife name Sita who was actually the sister of giant king Ravana of Sri Lanka. Once Ravana sent a demon in the form of golden deer and Sita is fond of that deer and she said to her husband Rama to get that. Rama not knowing it is a demon in the form of deer went behind it at that time Ravana came and abducted Sita his own sister in pushpaka vimana (celestial air craft may be NASA should go and learn some aeronautical engineering LOL) to have sex. So the story goes and finally Rama could able to get Sita with the help of monkeys and one great monkey destroys Lanka with fire and brings Sita. Finally Rama doubts Sita’s virginity that Ravan would have some how spoiled her. So the story goes on and they have twin sons Lava and Kusa. Finally Rama puts Sita in fire and fire did not burn Sita and finally Sita scolds Rama for testing here in fire and goes into the earth.
Where is godly quality in this?
They worship Sita as goddesses, but goddesses itself doesn’t know that the golden deer is a demon.
When Ravana his brother abducted Sita did know that Ravana is her own brother.
If Sita is the sister of giant Ravana, so Sita is also a female giant so how goddesses?

If Rama is god? How can he marry a daughter of a giant? How god marry a giant?
If Rama is god? How he can be cheated by a giant Ravan by sending a demon in the form of a golden deer.
If Rama is god? How he is unaware of Ravana’s plan of abduction of his wife?
If Rama is god? Why he doubted Sita’s virginity
If Rama is god? Why need a wife?
If Rama is god? What work he did for mankind’s salvation . He worked for his own enjoyment by a means of war on Lanka to bring back his abducted wife and finally put her in fire.

Can any of these things can be compared with Jehovah and Jesus. That is why I am a staunch JW in a Hindu land.
I will wash the feet of Christ Jesus and drink that water when I see all other gods, because Jesus sacrificed his own life for our sins and I will serve Jehovah to time indefinite because he is the originator for salvation of mankind through Jesus Christ.

            • yeah. i read it. if you want my opinion, i think any history, unless found writing proved to be before the flood, is just new story telling after the flood.
besides the bible and very few other writings, true history before the flood died with Noah and his family starting anew. good to know what youre talking about when talking to any Hindus. you’ll probably know more about it then they do

Brother do their characteristics show they are really god? But still I don’t know how they believe it. Did you see the difference between false gods and True God?
What is your opinion on Rama, Sita, Ravana and Rama taking help of monkeys to save his wife? See where is Salvation?
The story of Rama and Sita is from Hindu mythology RAMAYANA. It is a fusion story taken from the Bible Characters of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and applied it to one person called Rama.

Rama in Sanskrit is Ram a shortened form of Abraham.
              Sarah becomes Sita.
Abraham and Sarah leave comforts of UR and lives in tents in wilderness of Cannan. Rama and Sita also leaves palace and goes into the wilderness of S India.
Jacob goes to Laban and works for 14 years. Rama and Sita travels in wilderness for 14 years.
Along with Abraham leaves Lot. So is Lakshman goes along with Rama.
              Sarah was kidnapped by Abhimelech
              Sita was kidnapped by Ravana.
Jehovah sends fire and sulfur and burns Sodom Gomorrah.
See Satan makes fun of the acts of God by telling that Hanuman the monkey god burns Sri Lanka with fire
Isaac had twins. Rama had twins. So where did they copy Ramayana? Fusion of Bible characteristics into mythology of Hindus.

By seeing your comment I need to ask you directly are you a Muslim?
You said and I still am not 100% convinced that they haven’t been directed by God, somehow.

You see what Islam calls Jesus (ʿĪsā ibn Maryam = ‘Jesus, son of Mary’) there by denying Jesus as Son of God. Islam believes that Jesus as only a prophet and says Jesus second coming is to marry thus Islam is indirectly equating Jesus with Hindu god Rama thus it degrades the role of Jesus as savior. Islam traditionally teaches the rejection of Jesus’ divinity, that Jesus was not the Son of God, and—according to some interpretations of the Quran—the crucifixion, death, resurrection, and ascension is widely denied and not believed to have occurred. The mainstream Muslim belief is that Jesus did not suffer death, but was instead raised alive to heaven without having been resurrected first. If you have doubt then see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_in_Islam.

So how you still not 100% convinced that they haven’t been directed by God, somehow. So are you a part of Islamic mission?

I am 1101% convinced that they are not directed by God.

It seem so a though we are trying to make things more complicated than they need be. Cate, if you take on all the troubles you see in this world; try to define religions; look for emphatic signs, dates, hidden meanings, then you will fail. The bible speaks about those who love Jehovah, to come out of this world. Christ said he was no part of this world. If I may be so bold as to say it, if you ‘get out of her’ Babylon, all religion, all worldly association and involvement, then you will see it for what it is. Even a cursory look at religion tells those who have insight, that they do not represent Jehovah. Christians do not take it upon themselves to kill those who do not believe as they do. They do not bless the arms of those going into war, they do not starve the flock of information and insight, they do not gather riches for themselves and so on. Isolate yourself from these things. They are not your concern. Your concern is to come to know Jehovah and to do that, you need to read his bible. This will give you insight into that which is important to us all in this day ….and the troubles of this world, you will see in their proper place. Your hope for the future is to learn to love Jehovah. As for your concerns about Robert being haughty. ….try reading the accounts of the prophets. Their message was very blunt. Look at Moses discussions with pharaoh. Is that meek and mild? Far from it. For that matter, is the bible a book of tickling to the ears. Hardly. Stop looking at the man and look at the message. Expect it to be forthright. He calls people stupid. Well, I’m pretty stupid. If only I had my time again. Let us not think more of ourselves than is necessary. I seem to recall Christ referring to the pharrasees as a den of vipers. Why are you so concerned with the messenger and the religions of man? Because you want an easy answer? An explanation that is irrefutable? It’s not there. The bible takes you thus far and the gives you the tools of faith. You then make your faith your own. Best wishes to you in your search.

    • Bklyn Kevin

I greatly appreciated your comment especially the part when you said”

The bible takes you thus far and then gives you the “tools of faith”. You then make your faith your own.
Hebrews 11: 6 Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please God well, for whoever approaches God must believe that he is* and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him.

  • It is not possible for any human or angel – not even Christ himself – to place a date on “The Lord’s Day.” This not because it is my opinion, but because Christ himself says so. (Matthew 24:36, Matthew 24:42-44 and Acts 1:7)

Additionally – and in keeping with the context of Matthew 24:42-51, when speaking of the two slaves within his household, notice that it was the evil slave who was concerned with “times and dates.” Why? Because this evil slave felt that his Master was “delaying.” The faithful slaves did not concern themselves with times and dates of their Master’s return because they would have remembered what he told them at Matthew 24:42-44. They would NOT have been in expectation of his return. (Jesus said that he would come at an unexpected hour).

Yet, the WTBTS has announced prior to 1914 that his return would occur in 1914. So that organization was in EXPECTATION of him. Therefore, we have an organization who has claimed that it knew something that not even Christ knew.

I am appalled that many still view this organization as God’s Earthly Organization. God’s command at Luke 9:35 has not been obeyed. He commanded us to “listen” to His Son. Instead, religious organizations have entered in and they are being listened to. This is idolatry – worship of religious organization. The organization has become an image called God’s Earthly Organization. It stands in a place where it does not belong, in front of Christ’s property, mankind. It has made itself, Head. (1 Cor 11:3)

    • Beverly kenyon

Absolutely love some of the points you’ve brought out R. Jerome especially the bit about the Evil Slave being concerned with ‘times & dates’….his Master was delaying. Love it! That organisation has been in expectation of the Master’s return a few times! Just a thought, but wouldn’t that be anti-Christ on their part to just ‘elbow’ the Lord, Jesus Christ out of the way and ‘plonk’ themselves, as you brilliantly put it, in front of Christ’s property, Mankind, making themselves Head of as 1 Corinthians11:3 say, EVERY MAN?!

If I recall, not one of the WTBTS was willingly brutally murdered for ALL of mankind so it’s wilfully brazen and presumptuous and prideful to take it upon themselves to be standing in a Holy Place.

      Love your post!

if you believe the watchtower tract society organization is an antichrist at this point in time although they profess Jehovah’s great name AND also claim that Jesus Christ IS the son of GOD and A separate entity,
Then what do you consider christendom to be and please keep in mind christendom on a whole not only removed Jehovah’s great name from the holy scriptures but also are claiming that Jesus is GOD the heavenly father thus removing Jesus the son as the Christ??.
In reality when christendom on a whole or anyone for that matter claims THAT Jesus is GOD they are denying that Jesus Christ ever existed that would make them antichrist.
Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father either. But whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. As for you, what you have heard from the beginning must remain in you. If what you have heard from the beginning remains in you, you will also remain in union with the Son and in union with the Father.

Did not Jesus say if we knew the truth it would set us free! but unfortunately there are many who know the truth but reject the truth that Jesus is the son of Jehovah .
So one might ask themselves why would they reject the truth that Jesus is the son of GOD even though there is an overwhelming amount of evidence to prove beyond a shadow of A doubt that Jesus is the son of Jehovah. I will let the scriptures below answer that question.
Jesus said to them: “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I have not come of my own initiative, but that One sent me. Why do you not understand what I am saying? Because you cannot listen to my word. You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a murderer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie. Because I, on the other hand, tell you the truth, you do not believe me. Who of you convicts me of sin? If I speak truth, why is it that you do not believe me? The one who is from God listens to the sayings of God. This is why you do not listen, because you are not from God .John 8:42-47. Read more>https://www.jw.org/en/publications/bible/nwt/books/john/8/#v43008042-v43008047

I agree certain points with you but what Dr. Moreau said is correct regarding date. But you said that it is not possible for humans,……. Not even Christ to fix a date on Lord’s day. But I don’t agree, because those words were said by Jesus when he was on earth as a human. But now all the authority in heaven and on earth is given to Christ (Mat:28:18)so now he knows when is the date

      • the angels and Jesus knew much already about what was planned to occur which was evident when they spoke with Daniel and now that Michael has been given all authority in heaven and earth i wouldnt doubt he may well know more but –

““Who is worthy to break the seals on this scroll and open it?”” … “Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.”” … “He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne.”

        – the 24 elders seem to be on hand when he is given this knowledge.

“And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb.”

it seems that the 24 being present correlates with with the time Jehovah pours out his spirit during the great tribulation. i would think that the 7,000 who are remaining on earth at the time will know when Jesus is handed full knowledge of the times and seasons.

Jehovah knows when its time and it would simply be a matter of him informing Jesus

I had a chance to speak to my sister-in-law and brother-in-law recently, whom I love very much. They and the rest of their family are entrenched in the 1914 hoax. They asked me how I was doing spiritually and I mentioned 1914 and the like. I stuttered my way through the explanation as I knew they would not take to it. It’s a difficult thing trying to explain something to someone who is so utterly convinced that Jesus returned in 1914. I knew what I said didn’t have any impact. As it happens when we were saying our goodbyes , which in our case normally take about an hour lol , my sister-in-law slipped a tiny piece of paper into my pocket saying ‘make of it what you will’.

Upon arriving home I checked out the tiny piece of part and it read:

    Interesting scripture: Matt 13 v 3-23

Like you all I have read these verses but this time I read them a bit more carefully. The context is related to the Kingdom and understanding what i means. I guess she was saying that the new things I have learnt here on this site, ( i didn’t mention this site during the conversation ) was as Isaiah said: ‘You will indeed hear but by no means get the sense of it, and you will indeed look but by no means see.

One other interesting comment she made was , I do not believe the bible if I don’t accept 1914 etc, or words to that effect.

I know Jehovah will not overlook my in-laws, they are wonderful people.

Side note completely unrelated: Adam and Eve had it so easy, all they had to do was avoid eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge. All this pain, future testing and suffering would have been avoided.
