Well, continuing on with our discussion of the prophecy of Daniel,

I wanted to discuss Michael, the archangel. And the reason being is because he’s only mentioned in the Hebrew Scriptures in the Book of Daniel, except he’s not called the archangel.

And, the main reason I wanted to discuss this is because I’ve been having a Bible discussions with a neighbor. And, a couple of weeks ago, we were sitting on his front porch and, enjoying the summer weather, had a rather lengthy Bible discussion, and I had brought up, you know, the Michael/Jesus connection before. And, he thought about it. I think he looked on the internet, and he said he just couldn’t- couldn’t buy that. And so, I told him that, “Okay, we’ll discuss it the next time I come back.” Well, uh, we haven’t been able to hook up exactly, so [laughs] I thought I would do this video and- and give it to my friend. Thought you might enjoy it as well.

Actually, I did a video, one of the first videos, eh, when YouTube first became populars on this topic of Michael the archangel. And in fact, it is one of the most viewed videos that I have ever uploaded, which is really kind of disappointing because I think there’s so many more important topics [laughs] to- to consider, but…to the point, the reason people have a hard time accepting that Michael came down and became Jesus is because people have been indoctrinated with this idea of the Trinity and that Jesus is God. So, how could he be an angel? Forget the name Michael, how could Jesus be an angel? Well, [laughs] he is God’s Son and all of God’s spirit sons are angels. Or worded differently, all of the angels are sons of God.

Uh, for example, in the sixth chapter of Genesis, it said when men grew in numbers on the surface of the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God began to notice the daughters of men, that they were good-looking. It’s not talking about humans. It’s talking about these spirit sons of God. And, um… Well, I won’t- I won’t get into all of that. But considering the Book of Daniel, it’s written in an enigmatic way and you have to use your mind and kind of put pieces together to try to understand. But I will say that every prophecy virtually ends the same way, but it’s expressed differently. For example, in the second chapter, Nebuchadnezzar, of course, had this dream that Daniel interpreted and this massive image and a stone cut out of a mountain, not with any human hand, comes and strikes this image. And then Daniel explained that this stone represents God’s kingdom.

So, God’s kingdom, as we know, is a government that is going to replace human rulership. Okay, well, if you go to the seventh chapter of Daniel, Daniel himself was given a vision of a series of beasts and a fourth beast was unusually fierce and terrifying. And then he sees something similar to the, uh, rock being cut out of the mountain. He says, “I kept on beholding when the very horn of this beast made war upon the holy ones and it was prevailing against him until the Ancient of Days came. And judgment itself was given in favor of the holy ones of the Supreme One.” So, of course, the Ancient of Days is God Himself. But leading up to that, Daniel says he kept on beholding in the visions of the night after seeing this beast and see there with the clouds of the heavens someone like a son of man. He happened to be coming and to the Ancient of Days he gained access, and they brought him up close even before that one. And to him, they were given rulership and dignity and kingdom that the peoples, national groups and languages should all serve him.”

Well, we know who that son of man is, don’t we? Jesus called Himself the Son of Man. So, that’s the second vision. First vision, the kingdom is coming, and here where the son of man is given the kingdom. Let’s flip over to the eighth chapter.

And there, Daniel is given a vision of two beasts and, uh, one with a great horn representing Alexander the Great and the horn is broken and four horns come up. And then two of those horns, uh, well, become kings of the North and South, which is another prophecy. Uh, but this horn does the same thing, as the beast with the, uh, ascending horn in the seventh chapter, making war against the holy ones. And, uh, it… Daniel says, “It kept getting greater and greater all the way to the army of the heavens, so that it caused some of the army and some of the stars to fall to the earth, and it went trampling them down.” Well, those are the holy ones whose residence, whose citizenship is in the heavens, even though they’re on the earth. And it goes all the way to the prince of the army, and it put on great airs. And it says, “The sanctuary was thrown down,” and so forth. Well, the prince of the army… Let’s- let’s go on down. Verse 25.

The king makes his conquest. He brings the great ones of the earth to ruin. That hasn’t happened yet. “And according to his insight, he will also certainly cause deception to succeed in his hand and put on great airs and bring many to ruin. And against the prince of princes, he will stand up, but it will be without hand that he will be broken.”

So, back in that second chapter, a stone cut without human hands destroys this image. And here we have this fierce-looking king standing up against the prince of princes, and [laughs] he does not prevail. So, the prince of princes is the same as the son of man in the seventh chapter.

You know, Jesus is called the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings. He’s also the Prince of Princes. He is the Son of God. God is the ultimate king, and the son of a king is a prince. And these other princes are his brothers, the holy ones. And Paul called Jesus the firstborn of many brothers. And so, the prince of princes.

Now, let’s go on to the 11th- well, no, actually, the 12th chapter. We have the king of the North and the king of the South. The king of the North prevails over the king of the South. And what happens? He comes all the… This is in chapter 11, I should say. The last, very last verse. “He will come all the way to his end, and there will be no helper for him. And during that time,” this is 12:1, “Michael will stand up, the great prince who is standing in behalf of the sons of your people.”

So, we have four prophecies all showing the same end, the end of human rulership. One shows the son of man is prevailing, and then the prince of princes, and then Michael, the great prince. And by his standing up, uh, that expression is used throughout Daniel in regard to these earthly kings. The king of fierce countenance, it says, “Will stand up against the prince of princes.” So, he will try to exert his rulership. So, Michael will stand up. That means he begins ruling. Well, we already read that the kingdom is given to the son of man. This Michael is the same as the Son of man.

Is there any other way to see it? And besides, if he… If we go on to read the next of that, uh, first verse, it says, “And there will certainly occur a time of distress such as has not been made to occur since there came to be a nation until that time. And during that time, your people will escape everyone who is found written down in the book.”

So, that’s talking about the Great Tribulation, and that is when Christ will stand up, when He will assert His rulership, cut short the tribulation to save His people. And that’s showing exactly what Michael is- is doing.

So, it is interesting that he was called by this angel, “Michael, the great prince who is standing in behalf of the sons of your people.” Well, Daniel’s people, of course, were the Hebrews, the Israelites, and they were in captivity in Babylon when Daniel received this vision.

But the vision is speaking about, the last verse I read anyway, about the time of the tribulation. And Daniel’s people, or God’s people, would not be the Jews or the Hebrews. It would be people from all the nations, a great crowd of people, as well as the holy ones, who are all different nationalities. In the 10th chapter, it mentions Michael again, calling him the great prince. And, uh, it says he is one of the foremost princes. So, that would seem to indicate that he’s not the highest angel or the chief angel, the archangel. And the argument that others will present against Michael being Jesus is in the book of Jude, where, uh, it is said that when Michael was having a dispute with the devil over the disposition of Moses’ body, his corpse, that Michael did not bring a judgment against Satan in abusive terms, but he yielded to God and said, “May Jehovah rebuke you.”

So, others… Trinitarians will say, see, “Jesus has all authority over the devil,” and yet this Michael, the archangel, did not. Well, that’s interesting because Michael existed, obviously, before Jesus came to the earth. And at that time it was appropriate that he be called one of the great princes because this son of man, Jesus, came to the earth, acquired the right to the Davidic kingdom. And then upon his resurrection back to heaven, he retained, that, that kingship.

And Jehovah elevated him to a higher position because of what Jesus did. He rewarded him. And didn’t Jesus say, “All authority has been given me, all power and authority”? Well [laughs], the angel that came to the earth and went back did not have that authority before he came to the earth. But on returning to heaven, now he does have the authority to rebuke Satan.

And that’s exactly what we see in the book of Revelation. I won’t turn there, but, uh, if you wanna read the 12th chapter of Revelation, it says, “War broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels battled Satan and his angels.” And it says, “Down the great dragon was hurled, the one called Devil and Satan.” And it says, “Now has come to pass the power and the kingdom of our Christ.” There’s that word kingdom again. So, when the kingdom comes to power, the first thing that happens is a war between the king of that kingdom, it’s Jesus Christ, of course, and Satan, the devil. It is Jesus’ priority, his privilege, I should say, to crush Satan.

And Jehovah foretold that in the Garden of Eden. The serpent would bruise the seed of the woman on the heel, and he will bruise the serpent on the head. Now, Jesus is that seed, and he was bruised in the heel as if snake bit. It wasn’t fatal. [laughs] Well, he… Jesus died, but it was a very temporary time in the grave, wasn’t it? — parts of three days, and he was alive again, immortal. So, that was the heel wound.

So, because Satan murdered Jesus and no one is going to take Satan out other than Jesus Christ. And yet, here we have in this vision Michael and his angels. Well, in the 19th chapter, we see Jesus coming with all of his angels and holy ones, and there’s no mention of Michael.

Kinda reminds me of that you know, Michael and Jesus have never been in the same room together, right? That, you know how that joke goes. Well, that’s because they’re the same person. And when Jesus was on the earth, Michael did not exist. The only way he could ever come back into being is if Jesus were resurrected.

And, um, so anyway, um, it’s interesting that what Daniel was told that Michael was the great prince standing on behalf of the sons of your people. And when Moses… Moses was the, the greatest man that ever lived other than Jesus. And the Bible says he was by far the meekest of all men. And he had, apparently, regular daily conversations with Jehovah. And of course, he was on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights, didn’t eat, and, and Jehovah imparted the law to him. Not just the Ten Commandments, but the whole law, some 600 laws and regulations. And… but even when Moses came down, uh, Jehovah would visit him in his tent [laughs] because there was no temple and they had not constructed the portable tabernacle.

And so, Jehovah would actually visit Moses in his tent, and it was called the Tent of Meeting. And everybody knew when it was happening because this pillar would come over Moses’ house, this little tent, and it says that they would, they would converse like two men would converse. And no, uh, no one has ever had that privilege other than, of course, Jesus.

But then we read in the book of Acts that the law was transmitted by angels. Now, think about that, because Moses asked to see God’s face, and God said, “No man may see God and yet live.’ But I’ll tell you what, I’ll give you a glimpse. And He put Moses in a crag with his face to the rock and He put His hand behind him and it says He walked behind him. And Moses came down from the mountain with his face glowing. Well, [laughs] it turns out that wasn’t Jehovah. It was an angel representing Jehovah. Well, what angel could possibly do that?

We read in the first chapter of Hebrews that this Son of God was made in the exact image, He’s an exact representation of God. So, if God gave him that assignment, he could perfectly represent his father, Jehovah.

Remember, when Jesus was on the earth, uh, I think it was Thomas, he said, “Show us the Father and that’s enough.” And he said, “Have I been with you for so long a time you do not know that if you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father?” He wasn’t saying he was the Father or that he was God, he was just saying, “I am the spitting image of my Father.”

He said, “I do nothing of my own initiative, only what He has told me, that’s what I say.” So, John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was ….a god.” Well, what does it mean that He is the Word?

Well, when Jesus was tempted by Satan the Devil, when he is in the wilderness and he hadn’t eaten, and Satan comes to him and says, “If You are a Son of God, tell that stone to become bread.”

And Jesus said, “It’s not by bread alone that man must live, but by every word from the mouth of Jehovah.” Of course, He was quoting the scripture. He said, “It is written…” So, Jesus lived by God’s word, but He was also a spokesman for God. And that’s what it means by Him being the Word. Jehovah speaks the Word and Jesus carries it out, transmits it, broadcasts it, whatever.

So, since Michael, one of the foremost princes, was standing in behalf of Daniel’s people, and they became Daniel’s people going back to Abraham, but specifically when Moses organized them into a nation and gave them the law and they came into a covenant with God, it was no doubt Michael who was on the mountain with Moses and showed him Jehovah’s glory and who spoke with him in his tent relating the Word to him. No doubt he told Moses about, you know, what happened before the flood in the Garden of Eden and, uh, d- Satan, uh, deceiving Eve, and then the sons of God coming down to take women, and the Nephilim and all that.

Where did Moses get that? He wrote down things that happened long before he was born. Well, the Word was conversing with him and explaining, and he wrote these things down for us.

Well, okay. Uh, it… Some will say, and I’ve done a video on this at Hebrews 1:5-6, where Paul was explaining Jesus’ unique role. And Paul said, “To which one of the angels did he ever say, ‘You are my son’?”

And of course, the answer is none. He never specifically, you know, singled out an individual angel.

So, their reasoning is, how could Jesus be an angel? Well, they don’t get it, and maybe they don’t wanna get it. I don’t know. Uh, but [laughs] Jehovah said, “You are my son,” to a man, Jesus. When Jesus was baptized in the Jordan and the holy spirit came down upon him and anointed him to be the Christ, uh, Jehovah spoke from the heavens and said this, “You are my Son, the Beloved. I have approved you.”

And so, no angel ever had that privilege. And Paul went on to say, uh, “God made man a little lower than the angels.” So, God honored a man in the form of Jesus more than He ever did an angel.

Doesn’t mean Jesus wasn’t an angel before, but he wasn’t an angel when he was on the earth.

Philippians, it said that even though He was in God’s form as a spirit, it says He never thought of making himself equal to God, but he emptied himself. And, what did He empty himself of? His divinity. He left that behind and he allowed Jehovah to shrink wrap Him into [laughs] a sperm and impregnate this Jewish, virgin. So, He was grafted into humankind. And because Jehovah was his father, and he’d already existed in God’s image, then He was born as a perfect human and could replace Adam as mankind’s father. If you read the second chapter of Hebrews, Paul explains that.

Uh, so, don’t let the Trinitarians trip you up with this, um, weak logic that God never said, “You’re my son,” to an angel. But I wanna read, uh, one more passage to you. And this would be in 1 Thessalonians, the 4th chapter. And Paul was encouraging the Thessalonians that they shouldn’t be excessively saddened when someone dies because we have this hope of a resurrection. And then he says, “For this is what we tell you by Jehovah’s word, that we the living who survive to the presence of the Lord shall in no way precede those who have fallen asleep in death. Because the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet. And those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first.”

So, Jesus has the commanding voice of an archangel. He’s not just one of the foremost princes at that point. He’s the chief angel. Michael wasn’t the chief angel before; he was one of the premier angels. But after his resurrection, Jehovah exalted him to a superior position as a reward.

As I said, gave him all authority. He is the chief angel. There’s no one higher than Michael. And there’s no one higher than Jesus either. [laughs] They’re the same! You know, it makes sense that Jesus would have two names because He’s the only person that has had this unique experience of being two different sorts of creatures, living in two different realms. He was created as the spirit, the very first spirit. Jesus Himself said in, in Revelation 3:14 that He is the beginning of the creation by God.

So, he gave that up, became a lowly human, and it’s only appropriate that… Well, the, the angel told Mary to name Him Jesus. That wasn’t his name before He was implanted. Why would it have been? If Jesus was the firstborn of all creation, and then, of course, we know that God gave Him the privilege of creating everything else, and he created all the angels. Jesus is the only angel Jehovah directly created, which is why He’s called the only begotten Son. All the other sons were begotten through Jesus, through the firstborn, through Michael.

But I wanna share… I said that was the last scripture, I wanna read one more here. We have to go to, uh, Revelation the, the 10th chapter. In the first chapter, John is put into a trance and he has this vision, and he’s transported to heaven. And suddenly he’s overwhelmed at the presence of this magnificent creature—this being. And by the way, Daniel had the same experience, and he fell down as a dead man. They both did, Daniel and John. We’ll talk about that in another video. But, so it is described him as his face shining as the sun and His garments glistening and so forth. And that was Jesus. And Jesus touched him and told him not to be afraid.

Well, in the 11th chapter of Revelation, Jesus is called the Lord of the whole Earth. And now this vision in the 10th chapter, it shows this creature coming down from heaven, arrayed with a cloud. Remember, Jesus went up into a cloud. The Son of Man is coming in the clouds. He was arrayed with a cloud and a rainbow was upon His head and His face was as the sun. That’s Jesus. That was what the transfiguration was. Remember, His face shone as the sun? Peter, James, and John were mesmerized, but Jesus was transformed, transfigured before them. And his feet were as fiery pillars-… and says he had in his hand a little scroll. And he set his right foot upon the sea, but his left one upon the earth. And he goes on to say, raises his right hand to heaven, and he swears there will be no delay any longer, and the sacred secret is fulfilled, the good news which he declared of his own slaves, the prophets is brought to a finish.

So, it’s talking about the return of Jesus to lay claim as ruler of this earth, and to rid the earth of all of God’s enemies, and even Satan and the demons being put away. There is no doubt that this is Jesus Christ. Well, read the first verse. “And I saw another strong angel descending from heaven, arrayed with a cloud, and a rainbow was upon his head.” [laughs]

An angel, doesn’t call him Michael, so you don’t have to get worked up about the name. Just the fact that Jesus is properly called an angel. Is he a god? Absolutely. If he’s made in the exact image of the God, then he is a god. And by the way, in the 11th chapter, the King of the North blasphemes God, says astonishing things against the God of gods. Remember, Jesus is the Prince of princes, Lord of lords, King of kings. He’s not the God of gods.

Jesus called his Father “the only true God.” He was in prayer in the 17th chapter of John, and he said, “This means everlasting life. They’re taking in knowledge of You, the only true God, and the one whom You sent forth, Jesus Christ.” So, Jesus descends, just like we read in Thessalonians, this, “Jesus Christ will descend with a commanding call of an archangel,” and here, he’s presented as a strong angel.

You know, it’s hard sometimes to dislodge these things from our minds when, you know, if we go to church from the time we’re young, and we become indoctrinated in things, and we just, they just kind of become part of us. And so, it takes really a concerted effort to dislodge these falsities from our minds. And only by doing that will we be able to receive the reward. ‘Cause as Jesus says, “By this, uh, they’ll receive everlasting life, by their taking in knowledge of You, the only true God. This means everlasting life.” So, if you believe Jesus is the only true god, [laughs] you, you, you’ve missed it. You’ve totally missed it, because out of the mouth of Jesus, he is not the true God. Jehovah is the true God, his Father, and Jesus would be the, the first to tell you that.

Well, um, I didn’t get much sleep last night. I’m kind of like, uh, my mind isn’t firing on all cylinders. But, uh, I’m glad I was able to share that with you today. And, uh, next week, I’ll, we’ll get back and going through chapter by chapter in, in the Book of Daniel. Thanks for watching.
