I have great grief and unceasing pain in my heart. —Rom. 9:2.

Paul felt discouraged by the Jews’ negative reaction to the Kingdom message. Even so, he did not give up on them. Note what he further said in his letter to the Christians in Rome about his feelings toward those Jews: “The goodwill of my heart and my supplication to God for them are indeed for their salvation. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge.” (Rom. 10:1, 2) Paul stated why he kept on preaching to the Jews. He was moved by “the goodwill of [his] heart.” It was his heart’s desire that some Jews would find salvation. (Rom. 11:13, 14) He implored God in prayer to help individual Jews to accept the Kingdom message. Paul added: “They have a zeal for God.” He saw a potential for good in people. Zeal, if properly directed, can transform sincere individuals into zealous disciples of Christ, as Paul well knew. w18.05 13 ¶4; 15-16 ¶13-14

It is discouraging when people demonstrate that they prefer to believe lies rather than the truth. Jehovah’s Witnesses have demonstrated that they will believe whatever they are told by the Governing Body no matter how absurd. On the other hand, there is a growing number of xJW’s who don’t believe the Watchtower or even the Bible. So it goes with those who follow men.

Years ago I naively expected elders to be receptive to the facts presented concerning the Watchtower’s treachery and double-dealing in the matter of their 10-year partnership with the United Nations. They were not. Out of approximately 10,000 mail outs, not even one elder ventured a response to even inquire for more information.

Elders will willingly participate in the coverup of child abuse and any other outrageous fraud the Watchtower perpetrates. They will not even question when the kingdom halls they have built and paid for are sold out from underneath them and the congregations they are supposed to serve are dispossessed.

Then there is the 1914 hoax. Jehovah’s Witnesses cannot defend it but they will preach it from the rooftops.

Jehovah’s words through Jeremiah are most fitting. “The prophets prophesy lies, and the priests dominate by their own authority. And my own people love it that way. But what will you do when the end comes?”

Jehovah’s Witnesses love to be lied to. They do. I hate to admit it, but it is true. They will proudly wear their JW.org buttons, but where is your love of the truth —where is Jehovah? Is God a mere mascot to the Watchtower?

The Watchtower has assured the flock that the only event on the prophetic calendar is the destruction of false religion. Sadly, not even elders have the spiritual wherewithal or even the inclination to test these flimsy assumptions that are accepted as the word of God.

What will the Governing Body do when the bullets and missiles start flying? Will they retain even an ounce of credibility when the system comes crashing down? Indeed, what will you do when the end comes? That is why the scripture says: “Woe to those who yearn for the day of Jehovah! What, then, will the day of Jehovah mean for you? It will be darkness, and not light.” —Amos 5:18

Woe to those who yearn for the great tribulation to wipe out Babylon the Great. Instead, God will enter into judgment with his own people first. That is why the day of Jehovah will mean darkness and not light. “Will not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light; Will it not have gloom, and not brightness?”

Yes, it is very discouraging to me that the leadership of Jehovah’s Witnesses has no interest in the truth. They are mere religionists —like the clerics they love to condemn. For all of their Bible research, they do not understand the judgments of Jehovah.

“Even the stork in the sky knows its seasons; the turtledove and the swift and the thrush keep to the time of their return. But my own people do not understand the judgment of Jehovah. How can you say: “We are wise, and we have the law of Jehovah”? For in fact, the lying stylus of the scribes has been used only for falsehood.” —Jeremiah 8:7-8
