They Will Certainly Know that a Prophet Was Among Them

//They Will Certainly Know that a Prophet Was Among Them

Saturday, July 23

Every kingdom divided against itself comes to ruin.Matt. 12:25.

One of the darkest periods in human history nears. The prophet Joel describes it as “a day of darkness and gloom.”  For God’s people, it will be a time for unity. During the coming time of trouble for this system, we will have to be truly united. The spiritual unity that we will need to have among ourselves could be compared to the physical proximity of houses in ancient Jerusalem. Those dwellings were built so close together that the psalmist described Jerusalem as “a city that is joined together as one.” That enabled the inhabitants to help and protect one another. Moreover, their physical closeness could well represent the spiritual unity of the whole nation when all “the tribes of Jah” assembled for worship. Today and in the critical days to come, we likewise need to remain “joined together as one.”

COMMENTARY

The darkest period in human history nears. It will be an unprecedented calamity, as Joel wrote concerning it: “And pay attention, all you inhabitants of the land. Has anything like this happened in your days or in the days of your forefathers?”

Joel describes the impact the coming catastrophe will have upon God’s people, saying: “Even the livestock groan! The herds of cattle wander in confusion, for they have no pasture! And the flocks of sheep bear the punishment.”

Rather than a time of unity, confusion will reign. How could the Watchtower have been so wrong? How could the faithful slave whom Christ appointed been so blind? The prophecy of Hosea states: “So you will stumble in broad daylight, and the prophet will stumble with you, as if it were night. And I will silence your mother. My people will be silenced, because there is no knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you from serving as my priest; and because you have forgotten the law of your God, I myself will forget your sons.”

For the past 14 years I have pointed out the falsity of 1914 and the invisible parousia, calling attention instead to the future coming of Christ and all that his coming entails. Because of their intransigence and treachery by means of thousands of open letters and the distribution of a hundred copies of Jehovah Himself Has Become King the leadership of Jehovah’s Witnesses have been put on notice that they are the initial focal point of God’s coming judgment.

Although my warnings have fallen on deaf ears at some point in the not-too-distant future a similar scenario will come to pass as occurred with Ezekiel, as Jehovah stated to him: “Son of man, I am sending you to the people of Israel, to rebellious nations that have rebelled against me.They and their forefathers have transgressed against me down to this very day. I am sending you to sons who are defiant and hardhearted, and you must say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah says.’ As for them, whether they listen or refuse to listen—for they are a rebellious house —they will certainly know that a prophet was among them.”

The third edition of Jehovah Himself Has Become King is now available on Amazon.

There is a problem on Amazon that needs to be sorted out. There is no hard bound cover for the third edition, instead it defaults to the second edition. And for some reason the preview of the book defaults to the second edition as well. I’ll try and get that fixed. The upside is that this “final edition” is a little cheaper. Also, a free PDF version will be made available soon.

  • good morning Robert. wish i could write something about the bible like you do so well. i hope i can be of Jehovah’s service during the tribulation somehow

  • patri

…and all God’s prophets are not alone…from Abraham on …they’re all in unity in pronouncing “as surely as Jehovah lives, I can tell only as God says..”
Morning D3…I’m hoping the same as you my brother.:D

    • Tony Garcia

      I Am I Am

    • Burt Reynolds

Hello Patri, I do hope you are baring up under this heat. Did you ever get your Facebook page fixed or have you given up with that? You don’t seem to give up on much, that’s for sure!

      • patri

Burt. . .help! I can’t find fb! It popped up the other day and there was Alibogs lovely face saying we had one mutual friend. I pressed add, then scrolled through more faces and shock..
horror…a very close family member was smiling enticingly at me – black n white society mentality sort – and as I don’t know how it works I panicked and cancelled Ali, so Ali I apologise if I looked snooty but its just the mumpty in me. Hoping you weren’t even aware sister.
Anyway Burt I will try to get a connection your way this side of the trib. I haven’t got a clue really.
Hope you are enjoying the mellifluous hum of a large fan Burt. . .

        • Volcanic

Patri, please find FB soon, I sent you a friend request & a little message ages ago (it will be in your ‘other folder’) & I have been worrying that you are ignoring me.
Happy to read you are feeling ever so slightly better, dearest sister.

          • patri

Ignoring you? No way! Just need some hands on guidance as I can’t even get my head around my phone having another folder hahaha. See what I mean? Is that called cognitive dissonance or being a mumpty…don’t ask! I’ll ask my great-grandchildren, the whizz kids when I see them. They fixed me an app once, whatever that is…
Will make you a ‘friend’ when sorted…not that you aren’t already but see…now I know one word so not all is lost lol

          • why dont you guys just exchange emails or use a yahoo messenger instead of making everything public? idk sorry to sound like im telling you what to do but just my opinion

            • Volcanic

I don’t make anything public on FB that shouldn’t be made public, DA, there are such things as lists, in addition to private messaging, which I did to Patri. If you feel like I am taking up valuable space on this site by posting something to Patri, which is the only way I have of getting her attention at present, then I will not offend you any longer & will stop posting here.

            • Burt Reynolds

Don’t do that Volcanic!!!!!!!!!!………are you about to erupt?…….having love, concern and an interchange of encouragement is part of the Christian ideal and is encouraging to others to read as it is reassuring of that ideal. Yes, this is Roberts site and he would have the ultimate say so on the use of this site, but he has not said so yet and In fact, has used it so himself. He tells his story also in the intro to this site because he says, he recognises the need to do so, in other words, the human element of need and agreement, love and familial interchange that is required if genuine trust and familial interchange is going to flourish in the true Christian intent. If not here, then where? I ask myself. When the tribulation comes, are we to be confined to refining scriptural encouragement or do we pay attention to the emotional, physical and spiritual needs together? We are complex, multitudinous multifaceted beings. We are not monotistic entities. Jehovah recognised this not only creating Eve, as he says it was not good to live without a companion to share the joys of life, but again when cited in the scriptures,….The hand cannot say to the foot, I have no need of thee etc. Well, the spiritual essence of life, cannot say to the physical being that is the mind, I have no need of these, either. Why? Because are we not made that way. You dont have to look far or too deeply in this world to see the emotional deprivation of the human spirit in the face of the monotheistic hammering of one issue, ergo the aliegence to the watchtower as men run it. It was the frank appreciation of others, the spread across the soul of human insight as found in the scriptures and between like minded witnesses of Jehovah that endeared this site to me and without it, it is just a schoolroom full of arguement and opinion if it is to be devoid of love and the evidence of it. Love knows all things, hopes all things…love never fails. Write to Patri.

            • patri

“POW”! I guess the alternative to all you’ve expressed Burt would be “do this, do that, do this do that. Line after line, line after line, a little here, a little there…”:)

            • Burt Reynolds

The body requires nourishment as well as the soul.

            • patri

Well my soul’s about to get nourishment at the kh as I’m off to the 4pm meeting… Gulp…I hear the CO is spreading the news that the Trib has already begun…must have read Robert’s book too…

            • Burt Reynolds

Well we will have to watch how we address you anyway. If my schoolboy Latin serves me well, Patri = father. Thus the scripture applies: et patri nolite vocare aliquem. So you will have to change your name to Daisy if you want Volcanic to communicate !

            • Burt Reynolds

Hello Daisy!!!!!! How was your spiritual feast at the KH. Has the tribulation begun? So many Tribulation’s to choose from!

            • Daisy

Really really really lovely enjoyable feast, not bad at all…very different from here but I usually have a small appetite anyway….just wished a dinner was waiting for me when I got home! Curiously the talk was entitled “Coping with anxiety” which I found extremely apt in view of my experience recently so I felt great comfort being reminded by scriptures and illustrations used. My favourite song opened the meeting, “Throw your burden on Jehovah” which is what I’ve been doing big time recently so tears bucketed past my chin onto my jacket lapels until we finished singing…then I was alright.
              Thanks for asking dear Burt:D

            • Burt Reynolds

Hello daisy! Being attached to this site must bring so much more meaning to the meetings. I think the general populace of witnesses feel that throwing their burden on Jehovah is akin to throwing your burden on the governing body or organisation, thus the seed falls on stony ground where it springs up and quickly withers. Here, you get to know what throwing your burden on Jehovah really means. My concerns about knowing Jehovah have melted away since beaching up on this site. Now it all makes sense in the personification of wisdom. The yoke is kindly as it was in the beginning; simply one of don’t eat of the tree, except that, that tree now happens to be Satan, and the garden of Eden is his metaphorical stamping ground. Never mind, we shall keep cultivating the grain of faith that will move the mountain.

            • Daisy

So good to read that Burt and I agree with your every word about finding ‘here’ as I call it…and youre right about meetings having more meaning. I can actually comment now without a shake of my smelling salts bottle, such is the reassurance I get from here…always careful no boats are rocked, you have to stay within the coloured -marker -pen -thought though ,otherwise you’re shut down like I was early days starting out here…I quoted a scripture that was not in the paragraph and there was an uncomfortable moment. .never want to repeat that.
Perhaps I’m a lucky one in that my faith was never based on concern for elders or c.o’s bc they were never ever there for me when i so desperately needed assistance, some dont seem to get what being a shepherd, let alone a good shepherd really means, so any respect I should have felt was negated by the indifference they’ve showed. They do their best under the circumstances I’m sure…x

            • Burt Reynolds

Heavens! You quoted a scripture not in the paragraph and it was frowned on? I had no idea. The watchtower is clearly a different one from that which I knew. Then, if you could quote any scripture at all, it was a good thing and one that was related to the topic in hand, even better! It reminds me sodom. How many people are there left that would warrant saving this world. It really is time to leave and not look back.

            • Sam

I’m getting used to that awkward silence followed by a desperate attempt for someone to answer what’s in the paragraph whenever I comment. It doesn’t matter even if you’re quoting a verse in the paragraph, if you’re not providing the point made in the paragraph then it’s the wrong answer lol some appreciate it though

            • Daisy

Too true…know what you mean…its too much bordering on independent thinking…and you know that and i know that thanks to Robert’s guidance, but to brothet parrot its playing with his one track head, confuses him somewhat. I remember taking my living bible once to the meeting, old battered book which I could understand more easily than the NWT and there was a flurry of elders coming at me from all sides of the hall glaring at it like it would spontaneously combust or something equally serious! They must have been texting each other after one spotted it lol. Nothing was said and I left it home after. Ridiculous nonsense…but such fun being wide awake…

            • Sam

That’s funny lol I remember one brother telling me that years ago he did a bible reading in the school using the living bible and everyone found it refreshing. There was a time when the brothers at least had zeal for the bible, and an interest in books commenting on prophecy. Of course as Robert has pointed out upon the fall of the USSR the watchtower stopped putting emphasis on the deep things and it seems that the zeal for God’s word became replaced with organizational zeal and basking in the program of dumbing down. So thankful to know what we know, even if it does make surviving in the cong difficult.

            • Volcanic

I always felt that we ought to be allowed to add to whatever is in the paragraph, as long as it is not off topic. I used to research like crazy for the WT study & to not be able to use my answers was soul destroying. Personally I don’t see how it can be called a study if the congregation are only allowed to parrot back what is written there. There is no depth of meaning or extra learning available of the material if we can only repeat back….very boring too!

            • Sam

Exactly. It’s nothing more than an exercise

            • Volcanic

thank you, Burt, I did edit my post. I was going to stop posting as I had the impression that DA didn’t approve of me asking Patri to confirm our friendship on FB, It was the only way I could get the attention of Patri since we have no way of exchanging email addresses here. I felt as though I am taking up valuable space here. It is bad enough being shunned by so-called friends at the KH without feeling ‘in the way’ here too.

            • Volcanic

              yes, that was childish!

            • Burt Reynolds

I can reply here on behalf of everyone my volcanic sister, that you are as welcome as everyone else is. If we are to believe in what we see here, this is ultimately Jehovah’s spirit that moves here. I for one believe it. My studies of the scripture makes me rest easy here, for the load is light and indeed joyful. I have never felt this before in the congregation. If jehovahs is not here, then I must admit, I no longer know where he may be found except in the leaf of a tree as I have said before. It is not I or Robert, or Patri, or Joseph or all the ed’S the other ed’S the Kevin’s or Hannah’s….song of, that invite you here. But Jehovah. Hey there al you thirsty ones, come and drink life’s waters free. X

            • Joe Dman

As one who has unintentionally stepped in it myself, please allow me to make a defense on DA’s behalf. I think his well meaning comment could have been worded a little differently. He may not even be aware. If he is then he should do 15 hail Mary’s and 5 our fathers. Or just tell me to butt out and go to my corner if I don’t know what I’m talking about. I’ve read his statement and looked at it from the point of him being concerned.
Going along with Butts. .. darn auto correct. ..Burts comment, it’s refreshing the variety of personalities that post on here. Maybe it wasn’t auto correct more than a Freudian slip since he didn’t mention me in the list.
Nonetheless I try to read all the comments I can and it’s like being at a gathering: sometimes you overhear others conversations and don’t mind listening in. Some day soon we won’t have this opportunity to meet like this. So babel on brothers and sisters.

            • i couldnt find any beads so instead i curled my sideburns then rocked back an forth vigorously in front of a brick wall

            • i was just giving advice without tellng you what to do. i wasnt dissin anything; just safe and good way to communicate if you didnt know alredy

            • their going to know your favorit color and then its all over man

            • Volcanic

I can stumble over my own shoelaces, without the need of any human assistance, DA! But I can assure you that I have already been stalked on FB by an elder & I am not shot yet.

            • 0_o better safe then yet :p
what you up to today ?? reading your bible?

            • Volcanic

catching up on here, DA, trying to start from the very beginning which is difficult since there are so many articles I want to read. Still trying to get my head around the timescale of the GT/future. Supposed to be cleaning since my daughter has taken baby to the beach, but totally addicted to this site & anyway if the GT starts tomorrow I won’t be worrying if the floor is mopped!

            • one things for sure. its sealed untill the time of the end. so we’l know when that time comes 🙂 … last time it took an angel to explain an even Daniel didnt get it but him and Jehovah both loved each other

        • 1914for100Alex

First “mumpties”, now “mellifluous”! That’s two days in a row of learning new words. At this rate I’m going to have a whole new vocabulary by the time the Tribulation starts! Hopefully I’ll be able to use some of those words to weasel my way out of some bad situations 🙂

          • Volcanic

it’s part of the ‘pure language’, 1914!

            • 1914for100Alex

Well, if that’s the case I wonder if I get put before some mumpty gov’nas and tell them that Bob’s your uncle and he has a mellifluous voice, maybe they’ll let me go? Anyone?

        • Alexandra Bogolin Bautista

I didn’t even notice. Lol. We all gotta keep safe in this crazy virtual landscape we live in. People know what I look like, but it’s also fun imagining what y’all look like….like Dead Alien….in my head you look like a 26 year old. Lol. Y’all are young in my mind!

        • Burt Reynolds

Hello Patri, yes I am enjoying a mellifluous circular oscillation in a very much so lackadaisical manner…..forsooth….for this heat causeth me much mumptilational confuscation.

          • 1914for100Alex

My head just exploded trying to read that!

            • patri

I’m concerned about Burt’s king James version lisp…

            • Burt Reynolds

My bible is the 1702 edition by the executrix Charles Bill for Thomas Newcomb. . I found it on a lower shelf in a junk shop near Southampton. I had it rebound. I love the lyrics of old English, but more importantly, it does not carry the deliberate changes of modern translations, only the mistakes of the past. It’s is more or less the same as the original 1614 first edition King James which was begun in 1604. But the bible contains the family tree of those that bought it first, going back to the early 1600s. And came with a contemporary book marker which I found in the pages. Even John. 1:1 is accurate ! So you will all have to put up with my quotes from the 17th century. Forsooth. I do have a modern one for the odd emergency, but I am a bit reticent to use it as it contains the Book of Pokemon. Chapter one, verse one for example: And it came to pass that many people stumbled and fell over curbs and were led along paths they did not know by men they trusted, in search of the true Pokemon, and lo, all was bleak and empty. I’d better stop…..

            • 1914for100Alex
            • Daisy

It seems you have quite a find with your Bill and Newcombe. I googled, and did you know same contents were in the library of Benjamin Franklyn…I think….the writing was so small I could only read the headline expressing this. To actually own a bible with the correct translation of John 1:1 makes me feel green with envy…I would love to show my catholic friend so she can see for herself she believes in a lie.
Its obvious you have a love for the English language Burt, we all benefits so much here because of that love…x

  • heres a scripture imo seems to me can only be written to those related to e-Watchman because no other witnesses under the influence can understand it – “True, the mystery of this lawlessness is already at work, but only until the one who is right now acting as a restraint is out of the way.”

if you get what i mean

    • Tony Garcia

Nephilem true seed of Satan. A Man of lawlessness . When the Holy Spirit comes in the flesh he will remove a wicked man from the so called anointed class. Read Malachi 3… Elijah must come to show us the way

  • LW

I believe in so many words, the WT’s comments on the daily text are (if you read between the lines) essentially saying that it will be indeed confusion, but that is all the more reason why God’s people should strive NOW to work at this, because obviously then, with everything turned upside down, those with no faith will turn on their own related brothers.

This much is clear: Whatever happens, the ONLY thing that will get you through is your faith in Jehovah…that’s it. If anything we can take away from what has been understood through the book and this site, it’s that need to be prepared spiritually.

Every kingdom divided against itself does come to ruin. Satan’s empire is based on conflict and deception..think of it, at the local level, kids want to be better in school or the neighborhood than the next kid, at the workplace, in all sectors, and even for those ruling ones behind the scenes ( humans serving as the Devil’s agents, secret societies and etc. There is conflict there too for greater power..) and going upward into the spirit realm, we can imagine even among the demons, they battle amongst themselves for who will get the upper hand in Satan’s hierarchy. Of course, Satan can tell them one thing and just do something else.

So, back to this commentary now, in light of Robert’s explanation and the telltale message hinted in the WT comments, the point should be vividly clear.

    • Sam

The WT is setting up these events to be a time of confusion for everyone but JWs. The whole convention drilled home the point that as long as everyone is faithful to the org, they will be ok. They push that it’s the org and the brotherhood that will get them through. So when IT becomes an object of desolation, every hope and expectation will be shattered.

      • How could it be possible, though, for Satan to have such great power over God’s people? Jesus condemned the religious leaders of his day as being “from your father the Devil,” because it was really the Devil who exercised the greater influence over them. (John 8:44) Their dominance over the people prevented these from believing in Jesus. Because of submitting to their leaders instead of Jehovah they had in reality become followers of men, and no miracle on Jesus’ part could convince them otherwise.

        • Joe Dman

Hey Joseph. Could you shoot me an email. I tried to look you up on fb but unsuccessful. Dmaninspection@gmail

      • LW

Yes and so, all the more reason to have strong faith in Jehovah then

      • Shelley.

I thought the convention was “Remain Loyal To Jehovah” my bad.According to closing comments this years convention may be our last because we may be in the New World by this time next year.Sounds good to me lol

        • patri

“Remain Loyal to Jehovah” title was the window dressing! The tricky talk was the ‘guilt’ head game regarding remaining faithful to the org. The leaders know that peer pressure can lose you your life …being under the influence of the great ant-lifer himself.

          • Sam

I keep reading “Remain” as Ramen, as in Ramen noodles. This is what happens when i stay up late, i get too hungry xD

            • patri

Won’t be an early start so 4,pm meeting today, it is Sunday already right?
Been thinking of you Sam 🙂

            • Sam

I feel like all the days just mold into one at this point lol Likewise Patri! How is life treating you lately?

        • Sam

yeah sure, be loyal to Jehovah…by not questioning the org, not thinking independently or testing “new light.” Basically countering the biblical counsel to “test even inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God” So oddly, being loyal to Jehovah means putting the org above him. Cool deal huh?

          • Shelley.

All we are waiting for now is the org ( Jehovah ) to tell us to grab our go bag and head to the nearest Kingdom Hall .Its like being told to drink the koolaid even if is tastes funny.I didn’t get to the convention here in Moncton,nb Canada but so many told me it was the best one they ever attended.I really was disappointed that I was unable to attend as this would have been my first since I started studying but maybe it was a good thing.i would have had a very difficult time containing my thoughts.

            • Sam

To me the conventions and meetings are about just being with our brothers and encouraging one another, it’s not about the content…at least for me. I’m pretty sure you would’ve found a few things encouraging but the repeating narrative would probably leave a funny taste in your mouth lol the “theatrical productions” (we always have to have a fancy name for dramas/movies) were good, especially the one on Hezekiah and Jehovah’s deliverance, but it was clearly spun to mean that Jehovah wouldn’t allow anything to befall us, and he will deliver his people no matter what. But of course we know thats not strictly true as Jehovah allowed his people to then be brought low after that event. But i’m glad that you are carrying on with your studying and determined to not be stumbled! Well done! Now please explain to me what the deal is with bags of milk 😛

            • 1914for100Alex

I’m glad to hear they’re still doing the dramas. That was always my favorite part. Listening to people talk, regardless of the setting, puts me to sleep. Watching a live action story play out though gets my attention and I end up learning things a lot better that way. You also mentioned movies. Are these Bible story movies or something else?

            • Sam

Yeah they’re not doing the costume dramas anymore. Instead they have been putting out movies. Some are modern depictions of families and trials they might face whereas others are biblical stories… one of the recent ones was on Jesus resurrecting lazarus and others of the miracles he performed

            • 1914for100Alex

It looks like there’s a collection of videos available on jw.org. I’ll have to check them out. That’s too bad they’re not doing the costume dramas anymore, but in this day and age it makes sense to do the movies. That way they can get the message of those movies out to even more people. Thanks.

            • Sam

If you wish, you can check out the ones i mentioned under the convention section on jw.org…that is, if your conscience doesn’t bother you to say “yes” when prompted by the site as to whether you have attended the convention 😉

            • 1914for100Alex

Well, seeing as how they haven’t been 100% honest with me…

            • Kevin b

The Kingdom Hall is the last place I plan on going too. I’ve never heard a witness say I liked that convention 3 years ago much better, imagine the looks you’d get.

            • Joe Dman

Actually I told my wife I plan on going to the Kingdom Hall with a copy or two of Roberts book in hand when it all comes crashing down. I have a few friends there I’d like to try to help. Plus I think it will be a badge of honor to get kicked out. I don’t like the getting beaten part.

            • Kevin b

That’s a good point, I would do that as well. But the way I see things going in my minds eye, is that the branch will be in such a fix they will have sold off the Kingdom Halls by then to cover their debts from greedy unwise use of dedicated funds. In the future no more Watchtower means no more Kingdom Halls too. I wonder where all the bunkers are that we are to hold up in during the great tribulation. Still many unanswered questions brother.
