To you, O Jehovah, I raise my very soul. O my God, in you have I put my trust.Ps. 25:1, 2.

What helped David to develop such trust in his heavenly Father? Many people pray to God only when they are in sore straits. David, however, was not like that. His relationship with Jehovah reflected his faith in and love for his God throughout his life—in good times and bad. Notice David’s words of praise and thanksgiving to Jehovah: “O Jehovah our Lord, how majestic your name is in all the earth, you whose dignity is recounted above the heavens!”  Do you not sense the intimate relationship that David had with his heavenly Father? David’s appreciation for God’s magnificence and splendor inspired him to exalt Jehovah “all day long.”  Like David, we need to communicate with Jehovah regularly in order to build trust in him. The Bible says: “Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you.”

COMMENTARY

It is sad that so many of Jehovah’s Witnesses have such little faith and trust in God. That is demonstrated by how quickly their faith is shattered when they are confronted with the Watchtower’s misdeeds. And because the Watchtower has not given Jehovah’s Witnesses permission to think any thoughts not sanctioned by Bethel, it is not allowable for them to even think that Jehovah might set matters straight —since, according to the Watchtower there is nothing that needs to be straightened out. Besides, Jesus set everything aright back in 1919.

On the other hand, others who are not stumbled (yet) simply refuse to accept the facts regarding the Watchtower’s misdoings. For example, they imagine that “apostates” and opposers simply make up allegations about the Watchtower’s involvement with the UN or how Bethel’s policies regarding child abuse protect pedophiles. But it is the same underlying issue. They are not allowed to trust God to set matters straight, so they are forced to believe there is no reason for him to do so.

Of course, mere delusions cannot forestall the day of Jehovah. Eventually Jehovah’s Witnesses and everyone on earth will have to deal with that reality.

Then trust in God will not be optional if we wish to live.

Does Jehovah Have Anything to Do with Jehovah’s Witnesses?
