One of the great cities of the ancient world was Tyre. It is believed to have been in existence as far back as the time when Moses brought the Israelites out of Egypt in the great exodus, approximately 3,500 years ago. Several Hebrew prophets wrote about Tyre – including Isaiah, Joel, Zechariah and Ezekiel most extensively. This article will primarily focus on Isaiah.

Situated on the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea in what is now Lebanon, Tyre became the most prominent of a confederation of Phoenician cities, not the least of which was Sidon. But unlike the great plundering powers, Tyre did not set out to conquer other peoples militarily. It became dominant through commerce and by serving as an international port and terminal for overland trades routes. And because its seacoast craftsmen mastered the science of shipbuilding and navigation, Tyre was able to establish trading posts and colonies throughout the Mediterranean. It is believed the Phoenicians may have circumnavigated the continent of Africa and even crossed the Atlantic in their galleys. Because of her renowned seafaring prowess and business acumen, over the centuries the city-kingdom of Tyre became fabulously wealthy. It could be said that the Tyrians were the first globalists.

tyre According to Ezekiel the downfall of Tyre shocked the ancient world. Isaiah merely focuses on her trading partners, such as faraway Tarshish, believed to be modern Spain on the opposite end of the Mediterranean Sea; thus, the 23rd chapter of Isaiah opens with these words: “The pronouncement of Tyre: Howl, you ships of Tarshish! for it has been despoiled from being a port, from being a place to enter in. From the land of Kittim it has been revealed to them. Be silent, you inhabitants of the coastland. The merchants from Sidon, the ones crossing over the sea—they have filled you. And on many waters has been the seed of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, her revenue; and it came to be the profit of the nations.”

As a little background, it is believed that Tyre was originally established as a colony of Sidon. For that reason, Jehovah speaks of Tyre as “the merchants of Sidon.” Shihor, sometimes spelled “Sihor,” was a river or canal, which served as the border between Egypt and Canaan. Kittim was the name for the island of Cyprus.

The pronouncement of Tyre continues: “Be ashamed, O Sidon; because the sea, O you stronghold of the sea, has said: ‘I have not had birth pains, and I have not given birth, nor have I brought up young men, raised up virgins.’ Just as at the report pertaining to Egypt, people will likewise be in severe pains at the report on Tyre. Cross over to Tarshish; howl, you inhabitants of the coastland. Is this your city that was exultant from days of long ago, from her early times? Her feet used to bring her far away to reside as an alien.”

Although the Watchtower Society apparently sees no modern parallel as regards the pronouncements against Tyre, the prophet Ezekiel connects the downfall of Tyre with the world’s most pivotal event; that being the ouster of Satan and his devil angels from heaven, which Jehovah’s Witnesses believe occurred in 1914.

The 12th chapter of Revelation, of course, depicts a fiery dragon (a symbol of Satan the Devil) being hurled down to the earth by Michael the archangel. Revelation also reveals that coincident with Satan being hurled down the seven-headed earthly beast suffers a mortal head wound.

But the 28th chapter of Ezekiel is a foregleam of the same earth-rocking event, as it foretells of the arrogant covering Cherub of Eden – a reference to Satan – being thrown down upon the earth, which coincides with the overthrow of the literal port city of Tyre.  (When is the Devil Hurled Down?)

Ezekiel 28:17 reads: “Your heart became haughty because of your beauty. You brought your wisdom to ruin on account of your beaming splendor. Onto the earth I will throw you. Before kings I will set you, for them to look upon you.”

Since Satan and his demon angels were obviously not hurled down to earth when Nebuchadnezzar sacked Tyre, it is apparent that ancient Tyre will most assuredly have a modern counterpart prior to the revelation of Jesus Christ. Given the description of Tyre in the prophecies, it is evident that London is that counterpart. (For a detailed consideration of the topic see the chapter: London – Satan’s Throne.)

To emphasize the point, the very next chapter of Isaiah (24) speaks of the judgment against the demonic armies that have ruled the earth since the Flood and which Revelation reveals will be locked away in an abyss or dungeon for 1,000 years, or “many days,” as stated in Isaiah: “In that day Jehovah will turn his attention to the army of the heights above and to the kings of the earth upon the earth. And they will be gathered together like prisoners gathered into a pit, and they will be shut up in the dungeon; after many days they will be given attention.” — Isaiah 24:21-22

In view of this profound connection with the book of Revelation, the fall of “Egypt” and “Tyre” must coincide with the mortal wound upon the head of the beast, symbolizing the Anglo-American duo, which is a preliminary to the kings of the earth being drawn to the place known as Armageddon and the incarceration of the demons.

Londinium bridge

London, called Londinium in Latin, was originally established as an outpost of the sprawling Roman Empire about 10 years after Christ finished his earthly ministry. In that respect, London is also a “city that was exultant from days of long ago, from her early times.”

Although numerous peoples have successfully invaded the British Isles over the centuries – including the Normans about 1,000 years ago – the fact that the Isles are separated from the turbulent mainland of Europe by what amounts to a giant protective moat called the English Channel, and the superiority of their navy in later centuries, the main island over which London presides is aptly described by Jehovah’s prophet as a “stronghold of the sea.” Although London itself is not a coastal city like Tyre was, it became the most important seaport in the world due to the navigability of the Thames River.

thomaskingBy the 19th century, London possessed colonies on every continent of the planet and was the seat of an empire that controlled one-quarter of the world. Like Tyre, the British also fit the following description: “Her feet used to bring her far away to reside as an alien.”

“THE BESTOWER OF CROWNS”

“Who is it that has given this counsel against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants were princes, whose tradesmen were the honorable ones of the earth? Jehovah of armies himself has given this counsel, to profane the pride of all beauty, to treat with contempt all the honorable ones of the earth.”

“The bestower of crowns” is an apt description of the British Empire.  Most people probably do not appreciate the extent to which London has shaped the modern world. It is extensive. The lords of London have literally drawn a large portion of the world’s map. The British established the boundaries of nations such as India and Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, UAE, and many others. Typically, if a nation’s leaders are compliant with the will of London then they are allowed to remain. If not, then there are problems.

Shah of Iran Consider the nation of Iran. After president Mosaddegh nationalized Persian oil in 1952, MI6 (London’s international spy agency), along with the newly formed CIA, orchestrated a coup and ousted Mosaddegh and installed a brutal dictator, the Shah of Iran. (“Shah” means king. So much for championing democracy.)

The Shah was, of course, a compliant vassal, who allowed British Petroleum and Amoco to exploit Iran’s oil fields. So, London literally bestowed a crown upon the head of their man. But in 1979 the so-called Iranian Revolution overthrew London’s vassal king and the oil fields were nationalized again. It is no surprise that Iran is now in the cross-hairs of the oil-hungry Anglo-American beast once again. The prize of the second biggest oil reserve on the planet is just too tempting.

By the way, Iraq had nationalized their oil industry too. But since the Anglo-American invasion Iraqi oil is now being handed over to the big four – Exxon/Mobile, Chevron, Shell and BP (formerly British Petroleum.) And it turns out that in 2009 Libyan strongman, Muammar Gaddafi, also proposed nationalizing Libya’s oil industry. He quickly became a dishonorable fellow and was promptly executed.

Other nations, such as the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, enjoy fabulous wealth because of bowing to the king of the Tyre on the Thames. They are “the honorable ones of the earth.” And the native British themselves who work in harmony with the empire as traders are honored with knighthood. For example, a recent CEO of British Petroleum, John Browne, was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1998 and appointed as a “cross-bencher” to the House of Lords.

The various orders of the British Empire are considered to be the greatest honors in the world that anyone could receive.

Of course, the most commonly traded thing in the world is not a thing at all. It is money. Or more correctly, it is debt denominated in money. On any given day approximately four trillion dollars are bought and sold in what is called foreign exchange (FOREX), half of which flows through the banks and trading houses in the City of London and Canary Wharf. The money men of the City of London dominate all other trading centers. On top of that are the hundreds of trillions of incomprehensibly complex derivatives contracts, such as collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), credit default swaps (CDS), and interest rate swaps. Using these financial instruments the money merchants are able to rake in the booty from the far corners of the earth. (London Banking Center at Core of Financial Crisis)

King James ruled England from 1603 to 1625 and authorized the publication of the first legal English Bible

In answer to the question posed: “Who is it that has given this counsel against Tyre?” – It is noteworthy that the kings of England are at least indirectly responsible for popularizing the name “Jehovah” throughout the English-speaking world. That is because in 1535 King Henry VIII was declared to be the head of the Church of England. And when his daughter, Queen Elizabeth, defeated the Spanish Armada in 1588, Bible-burning Catholic control over England was finished. Two decades later the king of England authorized the publication of the King James Version of the Bible, which has gone on to become one of the most widely distributed Bibles in the world, which also used the name “Jehovah” in four places. So it is, that, Jehovah is not a foreign entity to those whom God has given counsel to profane and treat with contempt.

When the quadrillion-dollar derivatives bubble detonates it will simply obliterate the world’s financial and economic system. But because London is ground zero, the coming crash will spell disaster for the British Empire that presides over the doomed global financial system. Because he foretold this eventuality long ago in that way Jehovah will ‘profane the pride of all beauty, and treat with contempt all the honorable ones of the earth.’

city-of-london-griffin2Interestingly, the square mile of the old City of London is guarded by four winged dragons with mouths of lions, which are modern renditions of ancient symbols of divine protectors. Not coincidentally, Satan is also symbolized as a great dragon and his earthly rulership is symbolized as a multi-headed beast with the mouths of lions.

Appropriately, when Michael wages war with Satan the city where the Devil has placed his earthly throne will also be overthrown. The lifeless griffins will be unable to guard it from the judgments of Almighty Jehovah. Ultimately, the collapse of the Anglo-American economic and political system will serve as a signal that Satan has been hurled down and the Kingdom of Christ has, at last, come to power.

(Post Script: In the verse cited above, which stated that ‘just as peoples will be in severe pain over the fall of Egypt, likewise over Tyre,’ it should be noted that Tyre fell at least 13 years before Egypt. But in light of the fact that Egypt pictures America and Tyre foreshadows London and the British Empire, it harmonizes with the fact that the Anglo-American duo is destined to fall together in the near future.)
