The sabbath was part of the law that God imposed on the Israelites. God did not expect other nations to observe a sabbath. And no sabbath was imposed upon Christians either. No doubt Jewish Christians continued to observe a Sabbath, least they be accused of apostasy, but the gentile Christians were not to be required to observe it, unless, of course, they lived in Israel. If you recall there was a big controversy over this issue because the Jewish Christians tried to compel the gentile Christians to get circumcised and keep the law. The apostles ruled that it was only necessary to observe these necessary things, which did not include the sabbath.
