(Question #13) If the name “Jehovah” is so important, then why does Acts 4:12 say, “There is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name

[v10 Jesus Christ] under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved”? Would this not have been the logical place for God to have used the name “YHWH”?

__________

The most basic and fundamental truth that is essential for salvation is that God gave his only-begotten Son. In giving the Son of his love to serve as our ransom afterwards he also rewarded his Son by exalting him to the very throne of Heaven. In writing to the Philippians Paul explained: “For this very reason, God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name, so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend—of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”

There is a commonality to the verses cited. What is it? In all three a form of the word “give” is used. We have been given a name to call on for our salvation. God gave his only Son. And God kindly gave Jesus a name above all others.

Should we now suppose that Jesus gave himself a name above all others? Obviously not. In each instance Jehovah God is the one doing the giving. Should we imagine that the name of Jesus has replaced the name of the One who gave his Son for us and who honored the Son above all creation, but which the glory goes to God for being the Giver? Satan would have us believe it. And unfortunately masses of misguided souls have heedlessly swallowed the Devil’s lies – hook, line and sinker.
