I will prove to be with you.Ex. 3:12.

Can you imagine how you would feel if you had to stand before the most powerful ruler on earth and speak up in behalf of Jehovah’s people? You would likely feel anxious, inadequate, and intimidated. What could you do to add power to your words as a representative of the almighty God? Moses was in that exact situation. Jehovah had told him, “the meekest of all the men on the face of the earth,” that he was being sent to Pharaoh to rescue God’s people from their oppression and slavery in Egypt. As events would prove, Pharaoh was a disrespectful and arrogant man.  Yet, Jehovah wanted Moses to order Pharaoh to let several million of his slaves leave the country! Understandably, Moses asked Jehovah: “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” Moses must have felt inadequate and incapable. But God assured him that he would not be alone.

COMMENTARY

Egypt was the first world power of Bible prophecy and as such it represents America in prophecy. That Egypt has prophetic value is evident from the fact that Egypt symbolizes the king of the south when it is subjugated by the king of the north during the time of the end. (After Alexander’s conquest Egypt became the original king of the south.) Furthermore, the two witnesses of Revelation, one of whom is depicted as Moses, who turned the waters into blood, are said to be killed “and their corpses will be on the main street of the great city that is in a spiritual sense called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was also executed on the stake.”

Jesus was not executed in Egypt, of course. But he was killed upon orders of representatives of the Roman Empire, which was the then-ruling power in the succession of kingdoms in conflict with Jehovah that began with Egypt.

After Jehovah wrecked Egypt with the series of plagues the land of the Nile recovered and remained one of the great powers until Nebuchadnezzar’s conquest about 1,000 years later. And that event has tremendous prophetic significance in that it foreshadows the downfall of America coincident with the coming of Christ. But, the fact that Egypt was not overthrown by God directly portends that America’s downfall is brought about by a human agency as well.

In the 30th chapter of Ezekiel the overthrow of Egypt is linked to the day of Jehovah and the appointed time of nations: Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah says: “Wail, ‘Alas, the day is coming!’ For the day is near, yes, a day of Jehovah is near. It will be a day of clouds, an appointed time of nations. A sword will come against Egypt, and panic will overtake Ethiopia when the slain fall in Egypt; its wealth is taken and its foundations are torn down.”

Similarly, the king of the north is said to rule over the hidden treasures of “Egypt”: “And he will rule over the hidden treasures of gold and silver and over all the desirable things of Egypt. And the Libyans and the Ethiopians will be at his steps.”

Although the Watchtower has made the preposterous claim the the now-defunct Soviet Union once ruled over the hidden treasures of America, presently the United States is the most indebted nation in the history of the world. Even though the U.S. Dollar has reigned as the world’s reserve currency since the end of the Second World War, there is a move underway to supplant the Dollar and use the Chinese Renmimbi or Yuan as it is also called. As of last year the IMF approved of using the Renmimbi as a reserve currency, in a so-called basket of currencies. In conjunction with the rise of China a new bank has been established to rival the IMF and World Bank – the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank. This is why the U.S. has gone mad, provoking war with Russia and China and threatening to plunge Europe into war with Russia. But a collapse of the financial system could bring about a development where the financial oligarchs behind the central banks foreclose on America – taking its physical gold, silver and everything else of value as collateral for the $20 trillion owed the holders of its debt.

But as regards Moses being sent to Pharaoh, that evidently foreshadows something too. What? It was a foreshadow of what Christ foretold, when he forewarned his disciples: “But before all these things happen, people will lay their hands on you and persecute you, handing you over to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and governors for the sake of my name. It will result in your giving a witness. Therefore, resolve in your hearts not to rehearse beforehand how to make your defense, for I will give you words and wisdom that all your opposers together will not be able to resist or dispute.”

First century Christians were certainly persecuted and made to stand before governors and kings —Paul even stood on judgment before Cesar, before he met a martyrs’ death. Jehovah’s Witnesses in modern times have been persecuted and sent to prisons too. But have Jehovah’s Witnesses been brought before rulers for the purpose of giving them a witness to the point that no one has been able to resist their words or dispute their testimony? Obviously not. And Jesus’ instructions to not rehearse beforehand would seem to mean that defense attorneys would not be involved.

Besides, since Christ’s Kingdom has not begun ruling yet it is not reasonable that the rulers would be given a witness at this time, which as Jesus indicated, is an immediate prelude before those who give the witness are handed over to death. But the point is, as Jehovah was with Moses when he stood before Pharaoh, in the same way Jesus will be with his brothers when they stand before governors and kings.

But first comes the crash of the Anglo-American duo, symbolized in Revelation as the mortal wound to the head of the beast. The collapse of the present system will serve as  the unmistakable signal that the Kingdom has begun ruling.
