Keep abstaining . . . from blood.
Any one of us could suddenly find ourselves facing the blood issue. Or a family member or dear friend could unexpectedly be confronted with the issue of whether to accept a blood transfusion or not. During such a crisis, decisions also need to be made regarding blood fractions and medical procedures. Therefore, it is very important to do research and prepare for a possible emergency. Along with prayer, such measures will help us to take a firm stand and avoid compromising on the matter. Surely we do not want to sadden Jehovah’s heart by accepting something that his Word condemns! Many medical professionals and other advocates of blood transfusion appeal to people to donate blood in hopes of saving lives. However, Jehovah’s holy people acknowledge that the Creator has the right to say how blood is to be treated. To him, “any sort of blood” is sacred. We must be determined to obey his law on blood.
God has declared that the blood of every creature, animal and human, belongs to him. Don’t eat blood. Abstain from blood. That is that Bible’s straightforward command to God’s people. It is not at all dissimilar to the command God originally laid upon Adam and Eve as regards not eating from the Tree of Knowledge.
And that question is rephrased in many ways, such as: is it really so that transfusing blood is the same as ingesting it? Is it really so that the symbol of life is more important than life itself? Is it really so some fractions are okay and others are not? Is it really so you would let your child die? Is it really so…?
Of course, now Satan doesn’t use a serpent and make it appear to speak. He has many health “experts” and Bible “experts” to persuade us that if we take blood our eyes are bound to be opened, blah, blah, blah.
Satan’s intention is to still try and prove his claim that people will do anything to save their life, even disobey God if that is what it takes. It is a privilege to be able to add our voices to the faithful ones who came before us who have proven the Devil to be a liar. After all, if we are not willing to die for the truth, are we even in the truth?
