You will see your Grand Instructor

Your own ears will hear a word behind you saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.”Isa. 30:21.

You no doubt agree that the Bible contains God’s message for mankind in general. But does the Bible also convey how you in particular can draw closer to Jehovah? Indeed it does. How? As you regularly read and study the Bible, consider your response to what it says and give thought to how you can apply it to your circumstances; then you are allowing Jehovah to talk to you through his Word. This draws you into a closer relationship with him. For example, read and meditate on Jesus’ words to “stop storing up for yourselves treasures on the earth.” If you feel that you are already focusing your life on Kingdom interests, you sense Jehovah’s commendation. On the other hand, if you see a need to simplify your life and to focus more on Kingdom interests, Jehovah has alerted you to an area where you can work at drawing closer to him.

COMMENTARY

It is true, down through history Jehovah has provided specific instructions that applied to certain circumstances. For example, on numerous occasions during times of war God provided strategic battle maneuvers. He also commanded his people not to do certain things as well, such as make alliances with foreigners.

Amazingly, he has also provided instructions in advance to be issued at a particular point in time in the future. That is certainly the case with the imperative: “This is the way. Walk in it…”

The 30th chapter of Isaiah is a prophecy. In the original setting God condemned the “stubborn sons” of Israel for their refusal to trust him in the face of Assyrian aggression. Instead of relying on Jehovah to protect them they looked to Egypt. Hence, Jehovah declares: “Woe to the stubborn sons …Who carry out plans that are not mine, who make alliances, but not by my spirit, in order to add sin to sin.”

But the prophecy speaks in a much broader way to developments immediately preceding the coming of Christ. After all, human nature is the same as it was thousands of years ago. So is Satan’s influence. That is why the prophecy is just as applicable now, or more especially in the immediate future, as it was in the days of Isaiah when Israel and Judah were threatened with annihilation by the king of Assyria.

One aspect of the prophecy that had no past fulfillment has to do with the destruction of Assyria and all the nations. As Jehovah’s Witnesses well know, God allowed Assyria to conquer Samaria and take the 10 tribes into exile, but when Sennacherib moved to take out Jerusalem his army was snuffed out. Jehovah sent one angel who swept through the Assyrian camp as they slept and that was it. Sennacherib tucked tail and went back to Nineveh where he was assassinated by his sons.

Yet, look at the way Isaiah’s prophecy describes the defeat of Assyria: “Jehovah will make his majestic voice heard and reveal his arm as it descends in the heat of anger, with the flame of a consuming fire, a cloudburst and a thunderstorm and hailstones. For because of the voice of Jehovah, Assyria will be struck with terror; He will strike it with a rod. And every swing of his rod of punishment that Jehovah will bring down on Assyria will be accompanied by tambourines and harps as he brandishes his arm against them in battle. For his Topheth is already prepared; it is also made ready for the king. He has made the woodpile deep and wide, with an abundance of fire and wood. The breath of Jehovah, like a torrent of sulfur, will set fire to it.”

Since, as already pointed out, divine intervention came in the form of a stealth angel —not flames of fire, thunder and hail —either the prophecy is hyperbole or the judgment against Assyria is a pattern for something much grander. Assuredly, it is the latter, which is apparent from the reference to Topheth, which is connected to the Valley of the sons of Hinnom, which is where the Israelite kings performed child sacrifice, which Jesus called Gehenna, which is a symbol of everlasting destruction, which is the judgment reserved for those who worship the wild beast during the brief interval when Christ’s Kingdom rules concurrently with the last king, which is what Assyria symbolizes.

Of note, both Babylon and Assyria symbolize the eighth king, which is apparent from the 14th chapter of Isaiah, which is a judgment against Babylon, but which also includes Assyria, which had already been toppled by Babylon: “‘I will rise up against them,” declares Jehovah of armies. “And I will wipe out from Babylon name and remnant and descendants and posterity,” declares Jehovah. “And I will make her a possession of porcupines and a region of marshes, and I will sweep her with the broom of annihilation,” declares Jehovah of armies. Jehovah of armies has sworn: “Just as I have intended, so it will occur, and just as I have decided, that is what will come true. I will crush the Assyrian in my land, and I will trample him on my mountains. His yoke will be removed from them, and his load will be removed from their shoulder.” This is what has been decided against all the earth, and this is the hand that is stretched out against all the nations. For Jehovah of armies has decided, and who can thwart it? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?”’

Interestingly, Egypt, Assyria and Babylon were the first empires of Bible prophecy and are part of the composite, seven-headed, symbolic beast of Revelation, from which the eighth king springs. Both Assyria and Babylon advanced upon Palestine from the north —Egypt was/is located to the south, placing Israel and Judah in-between —a juxtaposition with the prophecy of Daniel makes the Assyrian and Babylon kings of the north and Egypt the king of the south.

As regards the king of the north the scripture states: “In the time of the end the king of the south will engage with him in a pushing, and against him the king of the north will storm with chariots and horsemen and many ships; and he will enter into the lands and sweep through like a flood. He will also enter into the land of the Decoration, and many lands will be made to stumble. But these are the ones that will escape out of his hand: Edom and Moab and the main part of the Ammonites. And he will keep thrusting out his hand against the lands; and as regards the land of Egypt, she will not escape. And he will rule over the hidden treasures of gold and silver and over all the desirable things of Egypt.”

“The land of the Decoration” is what the promised land once was —a glorious, beautiful land flowing with milk and honey. It was Jehovah’s possession. As in the case of Assyria and Babylon, the king of the north is also destined to invade God’s possession during the time of the end. But since the time of Christ God’s special possession has been what Paul called “the Israel of God,” which is Christ’s congregation. The flooding over of the king of the north must coincide with the “raging flash flood” Jehovah unleashes against the drunkards of Ephraim, whose land is described as a fading flower of decoration in the 28th chapter of Isaiah. (The latest version of the NWT dropped the use of the word “decoration” that appears in three places in Isaiah 28.)

The thunderous hailstorm coincides with the installation of the cornerstone of Zion —a reference to the coming of Christ in Kingdom power, which floods out the place of concealment of the spiritual drunkards who have taken refuge in a lie.

The subjugation of “Egypt” by the king of the north symbolizes the end of the conflict between the king of the north and south —Egypt being the original king of the south. In reality “Egypt” represents America.

Just as literal Egypt served as a sanctuary for the Hebrews in the time of Joseph, and and other times as well, the invasion from the north posses a test upon the inhabitants of the land of the Decoration. Will they trust in Jehovah, or will they flee to “Egypt”? That is the scenario that will present itself during the “hour of test” that Jesus said was coming upon the entire inhabited earth. (Not coincidently, the last king is destined to rule for a symbolic “one hour.”)

Jehovah’s Witnesses have no knowledge of these matters. That is because the Watchtower has imposed a blackout upon them. That is what the prophecy in the 30th chapter of Isaiah intimates when it imputes these words to the stubborn sons of God: “Now go, write it on a tablet in their presence, and inscribe it in a book, so that it may serve for a future day as a permanent witness. For they are a rebellious people, deceitful sons, sons who are unwilling to hear the law of Jehovah. They say to the seers, ‘Do not see,’ and to the visionaries, ‘do not tell us truthful visions. Tell us flattering things; envision deceptive illusions.”

How well this prophecy describes the leadership of Jehovah’s Witnesses. They stubbornly cling to their discredited interpretations of prophecy, hoping by sheer tenacity they will prevail. They are not interested in the truthful interpretations. They only want to be flattered. They want to be honored as the wise and faithful servant who sees all and knows all.

Just as Isaiah was commanded to write down Jehovah’s judgment on a tablet in their presence in order to serve as a permanent record of the fact that the stubborn sons have been put on notice, I too have inscribed Jehovah’s judgments in their presence, even on the world wide web, and compiled them into a book entitled Jehovah Himself Has Become King. Although relatively few have bothered to read it the purpose is as stated in prophecy: “that it may serve for a future day as a permanent witness.”

JEHOVAH IS WAITING PATIENTLY TO SHOW YOU FAVOR

How might the stubborn sons flee to “Egypt” in the future? Given the tendency of the leadership of the Watchtower to compromise, exhibited in their secret partnership with the United Nations, their backdoor lawyering and deal making and money-making schemes, the oncoming crash of the present system and the imposition of martial law, or however the takeover of the king of the north manifests itself, the Watchtower will most assuredly seek self-preservation. In this they will not succeed. Isaiah’s prophecy goes on to describe the pathetic situation the stubborn sons will find themselves in: “A thousand will tremble at the threat of one; at the threat of five you will flee until what is left of you is like a mast on the top of a mountain, like a signal pole on a hill.”

At that point God, through Christ, makes his entry. The next verse states: “But Jehovah is waiting patiently to show you favor, and he will rise up to show you mercy. For Jehovah is a God of justice. Happy are all those keeping in expectation of him. When the people dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem, you will by no means weep. He will surely show you favor at the sound of your cry for help; he will answer you as soon as he hears it. Though Jehovah will give you bread in the form of distress and water in the form of oppression, your Grand Instructor will no longer hide himself, and you will see your Grand Instructor with your own eyes. And your own ears will hear a word behind you saying, “This is the way. Walk in it,” in case you should go to the right or in case you should go to the left.”

What a loving, merciful God. Although his people do not fully trust him he is patient and determined to bless them despite their rebellious spirit.

Jehovah is the “Grand Instructor.” He has no equal as a teacher. How, though, can people ‘see’ and “hear” him? Jehovah reveals himself through his prophets, whose words are recorded in the Bible. (Amos 3:6, 7) Today, when faithful worshipers read the Bible, it is as if God’s fatherly voice is telling them the way to go and urging them to readjust their course of conduct so as to walk in it. Each Christian should listen carefully as Jehovah speaks through the pages of the Bible and through Bible-based publications provided by “the faithful and discreet slave.” – Isaiah’s Prophecy

As an example of their desire to hear flattering things, the Watchtower has stated that we hear Jehovah’s voice emanating as if from behind us by means of the Bible and Bible-based publications. This, of course, is laughable since we have always had the Bible and can consult it any time. It is not hidden from us. Yet, the prophecy pinpoints a place in time when God will rise up to show mercy; when he will no longer hide himself. In fact, it goes on to say that “you will see your Grand Instructor with your own eyes.” In other words, Jehovah is going to reveal himself. Not literally, not in the absolute sense —else we be vaporized.

But the prophecy of Isaiah reveals Christ to be Jehovah’s appointed “wonderful counselor.” So, in reality Jesus Christ will be your “Grand Instructor.” And your eyes will see him when the revelation and manifestation occurs —what Paul referred to as “the second time he appears.” (Hebrews 9:28) Jesus also referred to himself as the way and the life. Interestingly, first century Christianity was called “The Way.” So, when Jehovah issues the command: “This is the way. Walk in it” this must be the unveiling of the highway of holiness leading to life, which Christ will reveal. This occurs after God feeds his people with the bread of oppression and affliction. The end result is that for the first time in history God’s purpose is fully revealed —being accomplished, having brought to completion the gathering of both he sons of the Kingdom and the great crowd, at which point the light of divine favor reaches its zenith, described this way: “And the light of the full moon will become like the light of the sun; and the light of the sun will become seven times stronger, like the light of seven days, in the day that Jehovah binds up the breakdown of his people and heals the severe wound from the blow he inflicted.”

The phenomenon likened to the increase in the intensity of the heavenly luminaries is depicting the day when the chosen ones shine as brightly as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father.

How does this aspect of prophecy relate to the invasion of the king of the north during the time of the end? Please take note that their are two incursions by the king of the north. The first occurs at the beginning of the flooding over of the armies of the king of the north. However, the very last verse of the 11th chapter of Daniel speaks of another. That verse reads: “And he will plant his royal tents between the grand sea and the holy mountain of Decoration; and he will come all the way to his end, and there will be no helper for him.”

Instead of merely the land of the Decoration, now the king of the north is confronting the “holy mountain of Decoration.” What is the difference? As stated, the land of the Decoration merely relates to the congregation of Christ; whereas the holy mountain of Decoration signifies the 144,000 and Christ standing upon heavenly mount Zion. In other words, during the time of the end as Christ completes his conquest all the holy ones will be sealed and resurrected, meaning the Kingdom will have full authority to begin ruling the world. The last king will then sit as a trespasser on Kingdom property —having dispatched the last sons of the Kingdom in reaction to their disturbing reports. Thus, the king of the north “will come all the way to his end, and there will be no helper for him.”

That end is exactly what is related in connection to the king of Assyria after his invasion: “Look! The name of Jehovah is coming from far away, burning with his anger and with heavy clouds. His lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is like a consuming fire. His spirit is like a flooding torrent that reaches clear to the neck, to shake the nations in a sieve of destruction; and the peoples will have a bridle in their jaws that leads them astray. But your song will be like the one sung in the night when you prepare for a festival, and your heart will rejoice like one who walks with a flute.”

Hi Robert, great to see you back and thank you for another informative article. Even though this subject has been touched on before, you have revealed yet another angle. I think many of us read these articles and try to visualise how events will unfold. I have tried many a time and still cant. Perhaps that is a good thing not to know to much otherwise our knees would be dripping with water now.

  • Jamie Mac

There are some comments recently about subliminal imagery. Referring to image above, I checked it out vigorously and there are no 6’s, or at least i could not see any. My point is , Why is everyone always so smartly dressed. I can imagine a scene where the great crowd would consist of people naked, half dressed and probably thin as rakes for lack of food. But then Jehovah will wipe every tear from their eyes. Gosh what a blessing.

    • Shelley.

Very interesting point Jamie. These pictures are to reaffirm the lie that we are going to be untouched bystanders, but then what is meaning behind the scripture you quoted if we are bystanders only ?

      • Jamie Mac

Please don’t think this is aimed at dear Robert. I really had in mind the pictures we see in the WT magazines.

        • Shelley.

I was referring to scenes we see in WT publications as well.

          • Cathii D’Anthonii

The watchtower used to teach that” the voice behind you ” was your Bible trained conscience. It’s good to finally understand that verse in the last days when everything will appear to be otter chaos.

    • Beverly kenyon

Yeah, and I want to know where is the brown, black, Asian faces! Why are people of colour not represented in that sort of picture but judging from the style of their clothes, it looks like either late forties or fifties when racism was rife especially in America but then again racism will never go away until Satan is locked away.

      • Song of Hannah

I didn’t see racism here. To me it pictures a family surviving together, with all their generations represented.

        • Daisy

Dear Hannah, try jw survey.com Racism in Jws? Be prepared to be shocked and horrified.

        • Beverly kenyon

Yeah, Hannah, but it would’ve been nice to see a family of colour with their generations represented and when I started reading WT literature I noticed a lack of black and brown faces on those mags and I never once noticed a black or brown face among pictures printed of anointed ones. It’s only now you have token, whatshisname…Samuel Herd I think! Pictures like that one was put out against the backdrop of racism that was rife back in those days but like I said, racism has never hone away! A long time faithful witness who I knew and who had seven mixed race children she brought up in the truth single handedly used to mention to me about the lack of diversity in the publications. Things have changed a lot since then but as a person of colour you tend to notice stuff like that. It’s an observation. You see what you wanna see and until you’re a victim of racism no one can fully know what it’s like to be black, brown or Asian. It’s just a fact of life in this divided world!

Soon no one will have to even think about skin……… ❤❤❤https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/8c6c676b680274e444dd89d9ac98cb37f2cd0c7e0addb88e5f60da65868e5497.jpg

            • Beverly kenyon

It’s such an illogical issue and yeah, soon who will be thinking of skin colour?! Want to do a victory dance as I’ve got 3 hearts! Yay! I’ve only ever had 1 heart sent Joseph. I think Daisy held the record for the most hearts and deservedly so! I know Joseph…I’m childish! Lol.

            • Jamie Mac

looks wonderful Joseph. Total harmony living under Jehovah’s protective shield. This may sound a bit silly to most of you but when I look at these pictures which depict life after armageddon I sometimes get goosebumps and a lovely warm feeling inside. I truly hope to meet all of you under these circumstances.

            • Joseph Stephan

At first, we see nothing unusual; then all at once “a sudden rush of warm air” flows behind us, and we turn to find the wintry landscape gone, and it is spring, and “the scent of blooms began to fill the air, not just the drifting aroma of wild mountain flowers but the richness of roses and orchids and other exotic fragrances found in more tropical climes.
Not silly at all, photos transcend us to the future kingdom when we get to meet https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/794709962660bfbee20aaa0c1208dae5f8a013a6d25d547d1340ef1b0b551715.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/8e405fe93c6ddeb2f26e3c653560addec7c95b39e497ccdcd446adca826370f2.jpg each other under paradise conditions!!

That’s beautiful and all that space! Looking at that should make a person more determined to get there! Bliss!

            • Jamie Mac

Yes Beverly, no slums, no litter in the street, no crime, no pollution, no boasters, no sickness and no death and a loving creator. Have I missed anything 🙂 . If that doesn’t get the hairs on the back of your neck standing up, then nothing will.

            • Beverly kenyon

I just wish Jamie, all those people suffering that I keep seeing on the telly from the comfort of my cosy bedroom, knew of the beautiful promises of Jehovah, the things he has in store for us based on that artist impression but I bet the reality will be beyond our wildest dreams. Need to read that article by Brother King again…imagining Paradise!

            • Jamie Mac

Yes that is a good article.

For just as the pouring rain descends, and the snow, from the heavens and does not return to that place, unless it actually saturates the earth and makes it produce and sprout, and seed is actually given to the sower and bread to the eater, so my word that goes forth from my mouth will prove to be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly do that in which I have delighted, and it will have certain success in that for which I have sent it.
“For with rejoicing YOU people will go forth, and with peace YOU will be brought in. The mountains and the hills themselves will become cheerful before YOU with a joyful outcry, and the very trees of the field will all clap their hands. Instead of the thicket of thorns the juniper tree will come up.Instead of the stinging nettle the myrtle tree will come up. And it must become for Jehovah something famous, a sign to time indefinite that will not be cut off.”Isaiah 55:10-13.

            • Beverly kenyon

Oh, I do love that scripture Bklyn Kevin and it ties in neatly with Arvids post. It makes me feel so, so happy and in awe reading that.

Beautiful pictures…make me happy and thankful..pictures can truly tell a 1000 words.I see peace and harmony…i see SHALOM…in fact, the word wilderness (nature) comes from a hebrew rootword for order/compliteness-harmony…yes the nature and all the beautiful animals/insects is Jehovahs complete order and brings us in harmony with Him…The pure love of Jehovah is in his word and if we want to see it with our eyes,we can just look at his beautiful creation …much love to you all…hope to see you soon in the new clean peaceful world

Beautiful! The Kingdom message is the reality, all those willing to trust in Jehovah can have a share in the blessing He so lovingly provides! This hope will continue to move us forward!

Absolutely! Thank you Kevin, beautiful words of encouragement, only our Heavenly Father can provide!

            • Burt Reynolds

We won’t have to worry about coconut oil skin cars and the ‘seven signs of ageing’ either. ‘Scuse me while I see to my crows feet!

            • Joseph Stephan

The only skin will be aware of is the type of skin on our baked potatoes at the homecoming banquet! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/4c56dff9ef721b7c13f0f9181c1c3bd9bfbe015a4627146fc94da369319546ad.jpg

            • Beverly kenyon

How how did Jehovah think of all those different potatoes? And that’s just potatoes! Wow! Everything he thought of for our pleasure, to provide for us as his children! The red, blue and purple ones I’d love to try. Purple fries….fab.

            • Jamie Mac

Yes, so many varieties, it’s staggering. Jehovah knew his creation would have likes and dislikes when it came to food. Just one more aspect of our creators wisdom.

            • Jamie Mac

You can be the chef at the homecoming banquet. Let’s hope through Jehovah’s mercy we can all be there.

            • Jamie Mac

I am still looking at the lovely picture you provided and a couple of things struck me. Apologies to all our American Brothers and Sisters but Jehovah has chosen wisely when it comes to the question of recreational sport. Looks like soccer or football, as it it more commonly known, and not American Football will be the game. Can’t wait. 🙂

On a more serious note, there is a guitar, another passion of mine and a parasol, which hints of some kind of manufacturing capability. I know we will build our own homes but I wonder to what extent Jehovah will permit us to manufacture lots of other things. Being human we have an inbuilt desire to expand our knowledge. Of course knowledge of Jehovah comes first but when we have free time we wont want to sit around idle that’s for sure. This could be such a huge subject to cover so I’ll stop here. Maybe this could be posted on the forum as I am sure you all would have tons to say.

            • Joseph Stephan

Hahaha hahaha, about the soccer ball, hope I never hear classic rock & and see any hints of American football in paradise!!!

Here’s my vision of Paradise with you….

Joseph, yes indeed , yes indeed 🙂

            • Bklyn Kevin

I most certainly agree with you. There will be no need for competitiveness as everybody will live forever and have an unlimited amount of time to achieve their desires.

          • Southern ShaSha

Until you are a grandmother of (3) beautiful biracial grandchildren. I live in the Deep South where racism continues to rear it’s hideous ugly head. We are fortunate as we live in Huntsville area which is quite diverse, being a military town. I wear a great big chip all over my shoulder when there would ever be the need to defend and protect. In the south there are areas we would never tread. It would make your head whirl at friendships I personally have walked away from who had hidden deep prejudice from generations of ignorance and intolerance of any not white! So yes, I agree totally, until you are touched by hate perpetrated particularly for the color of a child’s skin, an innocent sweet child, that person is completely void of love. And I suppose the ones who display this lack of care and love for others is most visible in the ‘church going so called christians’.

            • Southern ShaSha

Even within the public school system they try to mandate, on the forms, you must choose either black, white, brown or other. No, my daughter checks both boxes.

            • Burt Reynolds

I really like that, checking both boxes. When I was still working as a social worker, we had to record the ethnicity of people, like ‘white european’ and ‘black english’. I never once asked a person and in the box at the bottom of the form where it was labelled ‘other’, I used to put ‘human being’. Not only that, but I was so sick of these forms and their ‘data gathering’ that in the box marked ‘sexual orientation’ I would often put (when I could) ‘straight-gay transgender lesbian bi-sexual hermaphroditism with Catholic-Presbyterian- Bapist leanings’. I don’t know if it crashed the British governments equality computer….I hope so…..but it gave me a lot of satisfaction……not that I approve of course! ( though I do recall on one occasion, putting ‘politician’ in the sexual orientation box. That didn’t come back either). Unfortunately, no matter how superficial or true equality is in terms of racism and discrimination in all things pertaining to disability, we shall not see the end of it all, until we have a common spirituality and unified understanding and love for each other. Until then, I’ll keep on confusing the data gatherers.

            • Southern ShaSha

Good job Burt!!!! Mix it All up, confuse Them to the their core! If we proclaim to be Christian, there is but one authority on the matter. Jehovah God and the one who provided our hope, Christ Jesus have the final say on this matter. Acts 10: 34,35 states clearly, 35, “but in every nation, the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him”. That’s it!!! So we ask, what race is superior to another, none, we must conclude, we are all but one member, of no other, than the human race.

            • Burt Reynolds

That is very true. It was always a recognised fact in social work and anthropology that ‘races’ did not exist, yet the government and people in general, call different colours races. There are of course genetic variations but not different types, and colour is not a type. Neither is disability, but they both provoke discriminatory attitudes in people. A major factor in the assumed race issue, might be better termed as behaviours, and the most important drivers of behaviours are religion and an imposed social status. And we know what the cure for those two items are.

            • LW

All you need to do is look at Jesus example. He was the second most powerful person next to his Father and yet he was balanced in his display of affection.

Satan in being overreached by pride has encouraged the same trait and will of ‘might makes right’ and superiority. And THAT along with other esoteric beliefs was the true reason why there were the laws of racial segregation in the United States.

See people are like “oh its dumb to classify by skin color” and yes it is, but do most of them understand the real REASON why that was the case? It requires to look past the veil and the surface matter in order to expose the rotten core.

And that folks, is the truth.

Pride can disrupt the peace of a congregation. Deep-seated feelings of animosity and superiority can affect our speech and actions, causing untold pain to others. (Prov. 12:18) If we personally have a tendency to feel superior to others, we need to remember that “everyone proud in heart is detestable to Jehovah.” (Prov. 16:5) We would also do well to examine our view of those who belong to another race, nationality, or culture. If we harbor feelings of racial or national pride, we ignore the fact that God “made out of one man every nation of men.” (Acts 17:26) In that sense, there is just one race because all mankind has a common ancestor, Adam. Therefore, how absurd it is to believe that some races are inherently superior or inferior. Such thinking would suit Satan’s scheme to disrupt our Christian love and unity. (John 13:35) To fight Satan and win, we must resist all forms of improper pride.—Prov. 16:18. w15 5/15 2:8, 9

Exactly LW, only the scriptures provide the real truth. Satan puts not a bridge but a cliff to fall into! But in the end he (Satan) will be the one to succumb to the deadly fall, straight over that cliff.

              Dear One,

We just don’t know how much mental malware we are programmed with… until our “computer'” crashes!

If my story helps, Im happy to share it. If it makes things worse, I’ll be happy to remove it.

I myself am a middle aged white man from born and raised in rural CA, but with parents born and raised in the south. My father was born/raised in south FL, my mother born in LA, raised in AR, in a family of sharecroppers at that. Being intimately acquainted from birth with neighbors who were persons of color, my mother would show no tolerance for racially disparaging remarks, and I generally considered myself to be above racism. Living in Ky these last 20 years, congregations seemed about as racially mixed as in CA, so racism was not even at the forefront of my consciousness.

              {cut to scene: The Awakening}

I had an incident at work where I said something racist that I did not even think was racist and would have never said if I had had ACTUALLY BEEN THINKING. When called out on it, “I’m one of Jehovah’s Witnesses” I said to myself, “I love all peoples and do not judge anyone by the color of their skin. I can’t be racist.” And the offended person, who rightly demanded an apology (which I immediately refused, because, after all, I’m NOT a racist, but upon considering the matter soon realized I was, at least, ACTING racist) and pressed the issue to the labor relations dept of my employer. This man who literally held my livelihood in his hand, upon receiving said apology so freely and sincerely forgave me that I was crushed for days. Next, HE”S going out of his way to check on me, asking ME if I’M OK? We are now friends and he tells me he believes with all his heart that we were brought together by God, that it was a purposeful act that was planned for both of us. I can’t say one way or the other on that because honestly, while I am perfectly OK with the intellectual concept that all good things come from Jehovah and I WANT to give him credit for them, I wouldn’t know the holy spirit if I was drowning in it. I mean if I’ve ever felt it moving in my life, I wasn’t AWARE of it. On examining myself, I came to realize , as if “seeing things for the first time”, that my behaviors and attitudes were racist and that I could no longer ignore nor deny the existence of systemic, institutional white supremacy at every level and in every facet of American life. I was forced by the facts to understand that even if I had never had a hateful bigoted thought in my life, or never sought to benefit from white privilege, I did possess it and did benefit from it. I was so delusively indifferent, a de facto Oppressor. Now that the Mental Malware is quarantined, I find myself gaining the wherewithal to feel genuine and meaningful empathy for everyone I meet. The whole incident served to reintroduce me to my humanity.

A large part of my current pursuit of the Truth, is seeing through the lies in all things, especially the ones I have knowingly and unknowingly told myself. For what it is worth, I am seeing and feeling a general sense that the current generation is more “over the whole race thing” but, at the same time, the shrinking percentage of haters is progressing from bad to worse to abysmal. Please stay safe.

            • Beverly kenyon

That’s fantastic Southern ShaSha, to hear of your beautiful family. That’s obscene that there’s no go areas that you wouldn’t think of going to. That’s got to be a constant problem lurking in the background. My family had moved to a nicer area here in Manchester and we were the only mixed race family at that time and I remember legging it after this girl who with her friends called me a racist name, it starts with w and rhymes with nog, and I was fighting her in a posh neighbours garden in the rose bushes. Fortunately, things have changed as it’s very diverse now in Manchester but the hateful problem definitely has not gone away. But I will never understand that illogical hatred, that concept of hating because of skin colour. In my family I have mixed Chinese/black brother and sister as my mother’s first husband was Chinese West Indian and my father was Jewish Portuguese and mother is black South American, I have a sister who is Indian heritage and a sister and brother who is half Scottish. So we’re a proper rainbow family! Lol. It’s great to hear from you Southern ShaSha.

          • Song of Hannah

I didn’t mean to imply that there is no racism – only that I didn’t see it in this picture. That there is racism is of no doubt. And that it would only get worse in the last days Jesus confirmed. For both Matthew 24:7 & Mark 13:8, he prophesied “For nation (“ethnos”) will rise against nation (“ethnos”)”.

            • Beverly kenyon

Actually Song of Hannah, my annoyance was directed at WT when I replied to you but it came across like I was having a go at you and I did know what you were saying about that picture. In that picture there was a dirty great big signature that I missed when I replied to you and I should’ve known that picture didn’t come from WT as they don’t sign their images in their literature. So I’m very sorry if I came across like I was annoyed at you as I would not like to hurt your feelings. Sometimes I can brush off racism and I try not to get riled as that sort of thing can get exhausting but when I see a lack of diversity in my religion I must admit I feel a hot rage. In parts of the world it’s a real hateful irrational issue that can cost lives and you’re right it will most definitely get worse in these last days. The hate is getting whipped up day by day. Thanks Hannah for your thoughtful post. It’s an emotive issue when you’ve been a target of racism and maybe a person has to live with it, a person either ignore it, suffer in silence or fight back like I did with that girl in the rose bushes. Lol. But Southern ShaSha gave great advice in saying to rely more on Jehovah as he does say, vengeance is mine I will repay! So I’ll let him do the fighting for me now! X

      • ewatchman

The picture is actually Ozzie and Harriet and extended family in the rapture. It is for entertainment purposes only. Obviously, it did.

        • Beverly kenyon

Don’t know who Ozzie and Harriet are. Thought it was from a jw publication. But I’ll stay with my opinion.

          • ewatchman

            Hi Beverly

Ozzie and Harriet was one of the original tv programs that pictured the perfect little post-war American family. The unusual thing was that the Nelson family was a real family. Of course, little Ricky grew up to be a rock star, coke head who died in a plane crash, which, come to think of it, is not really all that abnormal for the typical American family nowadays. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventures_of_Ozzie_and_Harriet

And no, the picture was not produced by the WT. I buy the rights to use pictures like this from a website called Good Salt http://www.goodsalt.com/ If I were an artist I would do my own art, but alas, I cannot even draw realistic stick figures. So, I am forced to scour the Internet and buy and steal images from wherever I can.

            • Jamie Mac

If that picture depicted an English family of the same era, no doubt granddad would have a pipe in his hand and everyone would look a bit undernourished as the country would still be subject to rationing . Still though the watchtower do publish pictures like the one above which depict the great crowd receiving their salvation. It probably does not raise any eyebrows and I suppose this is exactly how they imagine it will be.

            • Beverly kenyon

And the funny thing Brother King is that I love all things vintage so I liked the picture, especially the clothes and in my home I have some fantastic vintage prints but I really thought it was a jw cover picture and I always had my opinion as I mentioned in my post. That background story about Ossie and Harriet is interesting and the point about Ricky Nelson typifying everyday America. Well, I have to say you must have an artistic eye as your choice of pictures is spot on. It visually adds to the articles. The picture of that girl in regards to the article, O nation that feels no shame, was really impactful, it made a person feel the points of the article. It must take time and effort to source those interesting pictures and I for one really appreciate you doing that for us to benefit from.

            • Andres Felipe

I really like reading the comments of all of you … I learn a lot. This subject of racism in the watchtower publications reminded me that I was always bothered by the American and almost elitist approach to publications. Are given many times are not focused for people of the third world … do not take offense because my love for you is very great

            • Beverly kenyon

Hiya Andreas, you’re right as I also used to notice how very American the publications were. We have got eyes and a brain to notice such things so I don’t feel bad for having that opinion. Was it the apostle Paul that said, he became all things to all men? So he was willing to be diverse in his approach. Hope you and your family are alright Andres.

            • Andres Felipe

Están muy bien gracias y espero que tu familia también estén bien

            • Beverly kenyon

One last point Andres, because of Brother King’s articles pointing out from the bible about how America being used by Jehovah to further the message of the coming Kingdom it doesn’t bother me now about the publications being very American. I was ignorant before of that important fact and I’m glad I now know why. Hope it’s the same for you as well.

        • Daisy

Its not very entertaining if you’re not white skinned Robert but Beverly need not worry as in the millennial kingdom her skin will turn white, according to ‘pastor’ Russell lol.

          • J.M.J.

Racism is not only on skin colour . I am of mixed white races and have been racially abused right from a early age . I count it as something that unless you go through it you cannot really know and feel the pain for others .although there are many kind and loving people who are also feeling it while not personally being in that position

            • Beverly kenyon

J.M.J. I know your reply is for Daisy, but you’re so right in those points, that sort of racial hatred does not discriminate and yes, so true about there are many kind and loving who empathise like ones here on this site for instance. Try not to let such hateful things get to you J.M.J.

            • J.M.J.

Throughout my life ,and I do feel that a lot on this site as well have been put through ,and still go through very hard times . I do feel that it has all been for a reason ,almost as if we have to actually feel this pain so we can help others in the future . It is terrible , but what may well JEHOVAH S witnesses will be very similar should it pan out as Robert writes . I wish it on no one ,but I do see a pattern ,and the elders who bullied me ,who ridiculed me . I will love them all ,as I will know why it all happened .

            • Beverly kenyon

J.M.J, you are such a loving person to say you would love those elders that bullied and ridiculed you as I could not find it in me to do that… you’re a bigger person. I get filled with hot rage when I hear of ones being bullied and put down by so called ‘shepherds’ and ‘princes’ as there’s nothing noble in putting someone down in order to elevate yourself and wouldn’t enable them so they do it to the next person because they won’t stop once they start power tripping. I would have to stand up for myself.

            • J.M.J.

I was fora long time bitter.I was mentally abused by my Father and Mother as well as others within the congregation . Stopped from defending myself from being attacked by people at school . I boxed junior behind my parents back ,but could not use it as I would be punished . They took the turn the other cheek saying literally except for themselves . I later on boxed senior and did kick and Thai boxing . I am at a point in life where I believe it was allowed to happen for a reason ,and although am still going through rough times believe even this is so I can help if needed .

            • Beverly kenyon

No J.M.J, bad things do happen in this horrid life but you have to have respect for yourself and say these are my boundaries and if you don’t then that’s when others take advantage. People are feral out there and prey on the quiet, shy ones. They take it for weakness. You’re obviously not physically weak as you’re trained up and skilled and have discipline so channel that in being assertive so you’re not anyone’s victim. And I’m not saying use violence as you can clearly stand up for yourself physically. Don’t let what happened to you by those nasty bullies define you and don’t be accepting of it! Their behaviour was and is unacceptable and you shouldn’t have to take that. So glad and happy you’re here on this site. Hope you find comfort and hope for the wonderful future Jehovah has promised for us. That promise and hope keeps us going but stand up to bullies!

            • Southern ShaSha

I agree J.M.J. To one who is constantly harassed and treated so badly by any one, told just turn the other cheek and wait on Jehovah, and for sure in the big scheme of things that is true. But to not go beyond that recommendation is sadly not helpful. I do believe Satan is quite powerful today and yet Jehovah will be the destroyer of this evil tyrant. Often times we sadly look at individuals cruelty as their own, forgetting the true culprit is no other than satans divices to create hurt and chaos. He the “evil doer” in all that is bad, I believe unknowingly strengthens those looking to Jehovah. You have suffered atrocities throughout your life now, what will become of so many who have not had any adversity, who have always felt favored and protected. Big shocker when all humans will suffer equally in the tribulations to come. Maybe, just maybe you have a heads up, because you have the experiences in your own life from the get go. I truly believe Jehovah will bring about such justice as to all that we see, and bring such healing and peace, to all able to overcome and to move forward to the reward and blessings he so lovingly places in front of us all. We are encouraged to grab HIS hand, and in doing so HE will guide, protect and love, never to leave us behind, as the world as we know it has succeeded in doing Jehovah KNOWS all who love him uncondionally. And this is His promise!!!

            • Southern ShaSha

Beverly, thank you so much for your comment below. It’s helpful to realize we’re not in this alone, not meaning to ever wish it on others. We must pray all the injustice on this planet to come to it’s final end, and we know it will! My disposition is much like yours, in that I can become so enraged by what I see as pure, ugly evil. But we must try our best to control “our anger issues”, as it’s but a ploy by Satan to remove us from our reliance on Jehovah. Jehovah tells us to by all means hate what is bad and love what is good. We can’t allow ourselves to step in as “peter” did on many occasions as hard as it is. Wow, you do so remind me of myself. I believe Roberts site is but another way to appreciate Jehovahs judgements to exactly what we see taking place. Easier said than done, huh Beverly! I try to always remember too, those Jehovah blesses are descibed as meek and lowly, I’m anything but…………… working toward that goal. Regarding my blended family, again I must try to always control my emotions toward those who are flagrantly hurtful, and to explain to them it will all change soon. Trusting in Jehovah to bring about His kingdom through His beloved son Christ Jesus. Joseph’s beautiful illustrations of what we may look forward to can help provide the calmness in each of us that is necessary, to throw back satans efforts to distract us, as his personality is hate, division and anger. We have to hang in there sweet girl and persevere!!!! Love to you

Southern ShaSha, I said to a fabulous sister the other day regarding how I can lose it, well st least I haven’t cut someone’s ear off yet! And yes I can be very much ‘Peter like’ and I will definitely take on board that fantastic point you make about Satan’s ploy is to take away our reliance on Jehovah…that is so, so true. Hope J.MJ reads your post as your advice is much better than what I’ve just given him! Southern ShaSha, you’re so wise about these things. My problem is I hate injustice and also I’m a single woman and mother, so I’ve had to fend for myself and be independent even though I do lean on Jehovah for spiritual and emotional support I always feel it’s down to me. Across the pond Southern ShaSha, is a mixed race woman facing some of the same issues as you where you are. So no,
we’re not alone with these things. I will work on the things mentioned and keep persevering as you say. Much love to you and your beautiful family. Xx

You got it :-)…”Do not be surprised, brothers that the world hates you.We know that we have passed over from death to life, because we love the brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has everlasting life remaining in him.By this we have come to know love, because one surrendered his life for us,and we are under obligation to surrender our lives for our brothers.(1 Joh.3:13-16 )…(i see this pattern too..we are in this “storm” together but as long as we trust in Jehovah and grab a firm grip on the “lifeline” of pure love,no one ore nothing can set us apart from Jehovah and our King Christ Jesus..let them bully as much as they like…we can and must endure to make our heavenly Father happy and proud of us)….:-)

It is truly astonishing how the organization has put itself in such a high place in the heart of our brothers. It is almost impossible to read a watchtower publication without finding that fervent desire to be praised and worshiped as the only way to Christ. But more amazing is that our brothers can not see it, well, or at least do not know how to escape their claws. I remember that something that really offended me when I went to the commemoration last year was that they used this sacred meeting to advertise to the watchtower website; And the elders did not realize what they were doing, for they only obeyed orders like lambs. Thanks Robert for helping us open our eyes

  • Burt Reynolds

I found it very interesting how the watchtower suggested that the scriptures will or will not tell you if you are walking in the way and whether you will feel Jehovah’s commendation …or otherwise. So too, suggesting that the same can be, will be, acquired through bible based literature from the watchtower. In truth, the watchtower has never ever in my experience, applauded the conduct and work of its members in anything other that a superficial manner….’we Love you brothers’, and the main emphasis has been on putting down the flock as incompetent slaves, whilst raising the standing of the governing body. It is quite untrue of them to suggest that the brothers could ever feel at ease in their standing with Jehovah. It always was, and remains, a continual discreditation of effort by the watchtower, and the theme always was, and remains, ‘must do better.’ A never ending treadmill of inadequacy, not to the bible, but to the watchtower and thus the bible and that they claim to represent. As an example, When I was pioneering, as were others, we were never morally supported, but always told that we were good for nothing slaves only doing what we aught to and by implication, could do more. Yet the yoke of Christ is a kindly one, not burdensome, or demanding, only that the bearer adheres to the counsel to walk in the way provided and in all that such means. That is a joyful task. The watchtower adds burden to the scriptural demands and additions it makes to the word.

At that time Jesus said in response: “I publicly praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and have revealed them to babes. Yes, O Father, because to do thus came to be the way approved by you. All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one fully knows the Son but the Father, neither does anyone fully know the Father but the Son and anyone to whom the Son is willing to reveal him. Come to me, all YOU who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh YOU. To me, Burt , having also participated in the pioneer work, came to find it offensive to be “titled” for actually having the time to do it. Sitting in on closed pioneer meetings like there was some big secret. I saw brothers ask single sisters for their time card to decide to date them..What???? In fact turning in a time card to report how much you serve Jehovah against older ones who really struggled physically to Preach.like one sister said…”I serve Jehovah 24-7..when does this level of hypocrisy stop?

Yes, we were decieved and it hurts. I feel that all those years I wasted paying homage to men and their control. The hypocrisy will not stop until Jehovah puts and end to it. But it will stop. I regret that I was a part of that hypocrisy. I could have done do much more in the way of witnessing the truth, than I did in witnessing the lie that I thought was the truth, and being embarrassed because the lie was indefensible when the truth was pointed out. Still, that’s not the case now, but the problem is that my opportunity to witness is now limited, but at least my dog listens, but he is not much of a conversationalist.

The Disgusting Thing that Causes Desolation

      Excerpt:
While Jehovah’s Witnesses are under the delusion that the beast received the death-stroke back during WWI, the reality is that the Anglo-American system is now facing imminent collapse, which is why there is a relentless drive to ignite a global war. Already a winner-takes-all economic war is underway.

So, the “they” who put in place the disgusting thing is the Anglo-American duo, who are presently in the role of the king of the north and south, respectively.

Not only were the United States and the British Empire the principle creators of the United Nations Organization during the Second World War, but they will force the nations to accept the United Nations as a world government in the future. This is what is symbolized in Revelation the 17th chapter where the 10 kings, symbolizing all the national governments, give their kingdom to the wild beast until the will of God is accomplished. It is then, in the future, when the disgusting thing will be put into place. And since that is prior to the destruction of Babylon the Great the disgusting thing includes the harlot with her cup full of disgusting things. What Will Jehovah’s Day Reveal?
      Excerpt:
Now consider the closing verses of the 17th chapter of Revelation: ‘“And the ten horns that you saw mean ten kings, who have not yet received a kingdom, but they do receive authority as kings one hour with the wild beast. These have one thought, and so they give their power and authority to the wild beast. These will battle with the Lamb, but, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, the Lamb will conquer them. Also, those called and chosen and faithful with him will do so.’ And he says to me: ‘The waters that you saw, where the harlot is sitting, mean peoples and crowds and nations and tongues. And the ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire. For God put it into their hearts to carry out his thought, even to carry out their one thought by giving their kingdom to the wild beast, until the words of God will have been accomplished. And the woman whom you saw means the great city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth.”’

According to verse 12 the ten horns of the wild beast mean ten kings that receive authority to rule for one hour along with the beast. However, the 17th verse states that the ten kingdoms give their kingdom to the wild beast.

As Jehovah’s Witnesses know, each head of the seven-headed wild beast represents an empire that has ruled over God’s people. Egypt was the first followed by Assyria, then Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome and the present Anglo-American dual world power. The ten horns of the beast represent all of the individual kingdoms of the world – the number ten signifying earthly completeness. But in what sense do those kings receive authority to rule for one hour? It has to be something extraordinary – a development that has not taken place yet. But according to the Watchtower the United Nations became the eighth king upon its creation. But have all the nations of the earth given their authority to the UN? Hardly!. Read more>
