A man who is alleged to be the notorious "night stalker," who terrorized and raped the elderly over a period of 20 years, had been one of Jehovah's Witnesses during that period. Nabbing the Night Stalker had been a top priority for London Police.
Amazingly, one of America's 10 Most Wanted criminals, Ricky McClean, was also one of Jehovah's Witnesses at the time he committed numerous crimes against children. He was a trusted ministerial servant who preyed upon young girls in the congregation. Elders had received numerous complaints from his victims but were prevented from taking judicial action against him but the Watchtower's policy requiring two witnesses.
The fact that these two notorious criminals were Jehovah's Witnesses ought to cause thinking JWs to question the Watchtower's teaching that the organization is a predator-free "spiritual paradise." For an in depth discussion of the issue see the chapter Spiritual Paradise in Jehovah Himself Has Become King
