A Conclusion of a System of Things

Jesus spoke of the conclusion of a system of things, or the ending of an age, as it is variously worded in different translations. Concerning that phrase the Watchtower Society had this to say back in 1981:
Jesus did not say that the “harvest” is “the end of the world,” as some Bible translations would have us believe. (Authorized Version; American Standard Version; The Jerusalem Bible) Such translations make no distinction between the two Greek words synte′leia and telos. Explaining synte′leia, W. E. Vine’s Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words states: “The word does not denote a termination, but the heading up of events to the appointed climax.” So when Jesus said “the harvest is a conclusion [synte′leia] of a system of things,” he was speaking of a period of activity that would have a beginning and an end. According to Matthew 13:30, Jesus referred to “the harvest season,” obviously designating a period of time, the period the prophet Daniel spoke of as “the time of the end.” Interestingly, when the translators of the Greek Septuagint Version translated this verse in Daniel, they used the word synte′leia.
Unquestionably, the conclusion is an interval. But as regards that phrasing of Jesus’ words in the New World Translation – “a conclusion of a system of things” – the question ought to be asked, what system is concluding? That question should have particular relevance for Jehovah’s Witnesses since they believe that the “conclusion of the system of things” is a lengthy, ongoing period of time that began in back in 1914. But what evidence is there that the system has been concluding since 1914? And what relevance could a long-drawn out ending possibly have to successive generations who would be living during the era of the supposed conclusion?
Surely the aforementioned conclusion is not merely a prelude to a conclusion. Again, the question: What system is concluding at this moment?
Clearly, it is the present, global political, economic and social system, otherwise known as civilization, which will ultimately conclude. (The present system is generally recognized by historians as well as Bible prophecy as stemming from Alexander's Grecian Empire)
But if the system has been in a process of concluding this past century now, should we also expect to see the world simultaneously developing in unprecedented ways? After all, it is undeniable that civilization has enjoyed many advances in communications, transportation, sanitation, medicine and many other fields, concurrent with the time believed by Jehovah’s Witnesses to be the conclusion of the system. Up until the recent financial crisis erupted most people were generally optimistic about the future.
According to prophecy, though, the conclusion of the system of things will be a time of great foreboding – as if the nations have been enveloped in thick gloom. Jesus said that the peoples of the world will become faint with fright and the continuation of the present system of things will even be called into question. It will be as though the sun, moon and stars get extinguished.
Now ask yourself, does that prophetic description really describe the situation of the world since 1914?
More reasonably, the conclusion of the system is accomplished in a relatively short period of time. Bible prophecy indicates that the conclusion is accomplished in a three and one-half year period.
IN THE TIME OF THE END A PUSHING
One of the key developments that will signal that the conclusion has begun is a final, conclusive confrontation between two earthly kingdoms; symbolized in Daniel as the kings of the north and south. As the Watchtower correctly teaches, the Septuagint used the word synteleia, which is translated as “time of the end” in the New World Translation. Daniel 11: 40 states concerning these two kings: “And in the time of the end the king of the south will engage with him in a pushing, and against him the king of the north will storm with chariots and with horsemen and with many ships; and he will certainly enter into the lands and flood over and pass through.”
According to the interpretation proffered by the Watchtower Society the time of the end commenced in 1914 and the pushing on the part of the king of the south and the storming and flooding over by the king of the north has also occurred over the span of the entire 20th century!
For example, Jehovah’s Witnesses have been led to believe that the Treaty of Versailles and the Cold War that extended up to the collapse of the USSR were both manifestations of the “pushing” – this in spite of the fact that the Watchtower’s interpretation involves two completely different nations identified as being the symbolic king of the north. (Germany, Nazi Germany and the USSR.)
Even more absurd, the various manifestations of the king of the north supposedly have aggressively flooded over the world on multiple occasions. Even after the USSR was disbanded the Watchtower has continued to peddle the nonsensical notion that the Soviet king was successful against its nemesis!
Clearly, the Watchtower’s interpretation of this vital prophecy is a work of fiction.
The Watchtower Society and consequently, Jehovah’s Witnesses, fail to comprehend the true dynamic impelling the nations in the most recent centuries. The historic conflict has not been between individual nations or between capitalism and communism. The real struggle has been between the empire and the republic – manifested primarily in the war between the British Empire and the American republic.
The City - Seat of an EmpireAlthough the common opinion is that the British Empire is a mere relic of history, the fact is, the former colonial empire merely transformed its accumulation of power into a monetary empire, which controls the value and creation of money. The capitol of the monetary empire is London, one manifestation of which is the fact that nearly one half of the four trillion dollars of daily, global financial turnover is run out of The City. The critical situation that presently grips the world is due to the undeniable reality that the monetary system is breaking down. As a result of the reckless financial speculation that has looted the nations, some governments around the world are taking steps to control financial speculation - particularly the so-called "hot money" inflows.
At the same time city, state and national governments are being denied credit and are being forced to impose vicious austerity upon their citizenry to appease the financiers. As a result of the collapsing tax base entire nations are now threatened with disintegration.
What is coming into view is that the empire and the nation-states are entering a situation where both cannot continue to coexist. The system of monetary empire and republicanism has reached the point that a final winner-takes-all confrontation is inevitable and imminent.
The recent attack on Ireland’s sovereignty in behalf of the Rothschild-controlled Inter-Alpha bankers is typical of what is to come. As outrageous as it seems, taxpayers are being forced to bailout bankrupt private banks. As the financiers become increasingly more desperate and demand greater and greater sacrifice on the part of the nations, the nations are certain to push back. The only way the empire will be able to impose its will is by igniting global war. Thus, the empire has unleashed destabilizing forces around the globe in order to intimate and terrorize the nations into capitulating.
By first moving to buy up the essential assets such as food and fuel and then triggering nuclear war, the financiers will finally be able to crush the republican, nation-state system out of existence, once and for all, and implement their policy of drastic population reduction. (That is why there is no mention of the king of the south beyond the point the king of the north storms the nations. See chapter: King of the North Also: Habakkuk)
Has the prophesied pushing begun? Time will tell, and very soon too; because the global financial system, upon which civilization itself has come to depend, has definitely arrived at a critical point – hence, a conclusion of a system of things has arrived - the Anglo-American system, that is.

I have recently found this show and it is, for the most part, using discernment about the workings of this system of government. It is exploing the deep politics of the global economy. You probably already know about it but in case you do not it is a worthwhile use of an hour listening. I notice they are well ahead of the mainstream news media in breaking stories. And they're independent, getting their daily bread from other revenue sources. One of them is definitely no dumby. The other I have never heard about, is willing to believe in a Stargate in Aiden, but he is also incisive. Moreso than many Brothers who really should have the lights on given proported the holy spirit.
They're worldly guys so this is not family time listening. They talk straight about vulgar times so expect some righteous anger and reflection commentary. Intelligent, wise and well-versed in my opinion.

you state that "the real struggle has been between the empire and the republic." I would posit that the struggle between communism and capitalism is a direct manifestation of the imperial-republican struggle. The concept is the same...you have people who are for big government with lots of control (imperialism, communism) versus people for limited government and human freedom (republicanism, capitalism). Do you have any thoughts on this?

It is not that simple. Communism and ungoverned capitalism are both tools of imperialism. Imperialism is not pro Big Gov. Just the opposite. Imperialism has always sought to hamstring governments. Especially from regulating financiers.
Communism did not spontaneously erupt in Russia in 1917. Karl Marx and Fredrick Engels were both schooled in the British East India company. Engels was, of course, a wealthy British textile manufacture; and his buddy, Karl, was a German radical. They wrote the communist manifesto in London a half century before Lenin and Trotsky overthrew the Czar. It is fairly well known that Trotsky was given a bag of gold by the London financiers and given free pass from Canada through Germany during WWI, into Russia, to foment revolution for the purpose of preventing Russia from developing any further upon the model of Lincoln's America.

I don't know. I thought this thing would blow up years ago. I am bleary-eyed from standing my post. But, the way things are shaping up now, I think probably next year world war will erupt. Everything is in place. As the last element, it seems to me that President Obama will become increasingly desperate to salvage something from his failed presidency by pushing through a Middle East peace deal. And as you and all the brothers well know, 'whenever it is that they are saying,' blah, blah, blah... KABOOM!
While I never gave any credence to the 2012 camp, I am beginning to wonder....
Since Satan knows when the 1000 year Reign of Peace should start. It makes me wonder if he is not in some way pushiing this date so that he will look like an Angel of Light when everything comes crashing down.

Counting back from Fall/Winter 2012 brings us to 2008/2009, just when the financial collapse started. Ouch! We only heard about it when it couldn't be hidden anymore, but it probably started alot earlier. Let's stir the pot and agitate the nations for a couple of years before the Big Event.

It seems the elephant in the room that is carefully avoided by religious people who study end times is the Police State. After the United States government pulled the inside job on 9-11-2001, the police have been more abusive and civil rights have been trampled on. I am afraid to even go to a bar in at night here in St Louis, Mo because I know I will pulled over and charged as a drunk driver if I only have 2 beers which was normal behavior when I was in my twenties. Why are modern Christians pro-police and pro military when the police and military are responsible for taking away our civil rights?
The police and military are just doing what they are told. The repression comes from the top down. According to Bible prophecy it is going to get a lot worse. We can expect a dictatorial tyranny worse then the Nazis or Soviets, only global. The empire fully intends to reduce the world's population by about 80%. Again, Bible prophecy indicates they will have some measure of success in achieving that goal.
Very interesting to see someone else questioning the 1914 date. Since Jesus said those words, many systems have come and gone.. Right now, we are looking at a world wide system, situations affecting the whole world. Is this the system that will now collapse. We are waiting for the declaration of one world religion, because we know that religion is a major cause of world wars and religions will come under attack. The government of the United States has had a commission studying how to tax the churches of America since 1981. With the current religious/political climat, they are getting close to that goal. It is so important for people to study the Bible for themselves and stop allowing others to tell them what it says. Almighty God's Holy Spirit is free, he will give it to all who ask for it. A person can use it to get help in understanding the Bible. Let Almighty God teach you by means of his Hoy Spirit. It is good to meet together to share what we learn, but not to just meet and tear down what others believe. How can we help them if we beat them up, where is the love in that??? One thing for sure, the END is coming and it will not be late.

The opening of the 6th seal is what seems to me, what you connect with the downfall of America, so my question is, if the collapse of the Anglo-American system is what is said to be happening now, then when did seals 1-5 open?
Just for the record, imo we are still several years away from the 8th king/42 months/time of the end. Anything that happens presently is only going to led way into the NAU, not the total take over of the UN.

I don't think the 3 1/2 year started in the spring of 2009.
There are too many things still to take place. The rise of the 8th King, the 2 witnesses, etc.
But, it is interesting to see how much misinformation (Mayan Prophesy, Hopi Prophesy, Earth going through the plane of the galaxy, etc.) is being used to shore up the 2012 date.
What I think may be happnening, is that we are being prepared for the 8th King taking over. If that happens in the Winter of 2012, then its "short reign", probably coincides with the 3 1/2 years.
Alot can happen in 3 1/2 years. In fact Jesus said that if the days were not cut short, no flesh would be saved.
I've heard this before too, and I don't know how it started, but it is completely ridiculous, the earth is still several million years away from crossing the galactic plane, and even when it does, it's not going to have a significant effect on the earth itself. Also another point to consider is that the "galactic plane" actually has a depth, it's not perfectly flat, and it will take some time (almost definitely more than a year) to pass through the galactic plane. So it's not this one-time event that happens and is over with the next day.
What I have heard though, and this seems to me to be a lot more plausible is that from the perspective of the earth, the Sun will align with the galactic center. This, again, is a lot more plausible of a scenario, but have not personally done the calculations to verify it. Even so, it suggest that such an event would have an impact on the earth itself is outright astrology and spiritism. From a scientific perspective, the alignment of the sun with the galactic center will have no effect on the earth.
Almost anonymous - you spelled the noun "prophecy" incorrectly. The word you used, "prophesy", is a verb as in the disciple prophesied to the nations. It is a Mayan prophecy that is due to be fulfilled in 2012.

ALL nations are dispensable to the global capital cabal, since they hold

The term 'conclusion of a system of things' definitely refers to the united,
global system of devil worship yet to be implemented at some stage post
nation-state domination of WHATEVER regional configuration is yet to
arise in fulfilment of Holy Writ.
We may, or may not, be facing the conclusion of the tin-pot American
system at present, but that is altogether irrelevant to the plot because
Jesus was referring to the conclusion of the global NWO that isn't even
anywhere to be seen on the horizon yet.
There could be any number of regional and global conflicts and wars similar
to, or even greater than, the previous world wars - yet none of that would
constitute the conclusion of the entire global system of things because the
beast, that will be acting with satanic power and great authority over EVERY
nation on earth, has first to come up out of the sea and conquer the whole
world - then the process of concluding the system of things can get under way.
The WT-anointed are already deep into the time of their end, and their 'christ'
who has been conquering the world since 1914 is soon to complete his
conquest of the entire inhabited earth through his invisible kingdom of world
domination. You seem to be expecting the same scenario, but with a brief
interrupting 'discipline' and 'restoration' session thrown in, for the WT top
brass to be polished up a bit, in order to shine as illuminators in the NWO
kingdom that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things.
As for us 'ordinary' Christians, it is early days yet. Globalization has yet to
run its full course, both technologically and ideologically over whatever
highways or byways it needs to travel.

Brother king's criticisms of the watchtower are reasonable, but he should beware that he does not begin making foolish predictions about the end and start sounding like the very arrogant organisation he is criticising, because that would be hypocrisy, and we don't like hypocrisy.

The point is The System is prophesied to conclude, and, as I understand it, that has no bearing on whether we trust in Jehovah - only in whether we believe Jehovah. The System can end long after we all die horrible, unjust deaths. The judgment on Jehovah is how we choose to live our lives as His witnesses. Strangely enough, in that, He has put His faith in us. That's the way I see it. The path is not broad because only we can walk it and we walk it alone.

No, "parroting" is not the right word either. LaRouche has not said that Obama is being pushed to achieve MidEast peace to salvage something of his presidency. If you are going to slander someone as a plagerist or idolizer/parrot, or whatever, you should at least get your facts straight first.

May I kindly ask all you humble-minded bible experts who post on this forum regularly and who seriously consider themselves to be "christian" (with the exception of Mr King, KIM & Richard, who clearly are not) this one sincere question.
Do any of you "christians" LITERALLY believe or exercise faith in the scripture below, or is this scripture just mere FIGURATIVE, prophetic language, that should NOT to be practiced or lived by ?

And thanks for erasing my "teasing rebuttal" to him. Sorry about that indulgence! I guess his skin is not as thick as he portrays it to be. And I sometimes dish out a little ribbing myself at times. However, I temper my actions so I don't bring reproach to our GOD.

The fundamental question of the Bible is who is fit to rule, and somehow I have managed to ignore politics, which is a part and parcel of our understanding of that question - certainly on a human level. I never voted so I never listened to what was being said except when the words were convenient to use in the ministry as anecdotes and door openers. In essence, I paid no attention relying on blind faith to cast my ballot for Jehovah every four years by simply not-voting. I probably should have spoiled my vote, waiting in the lines and going through the man-made apparatus in appreciation of the fact that I could vote as a God given right exercised in the democracy where I lived. But, meh, why bother, was my attitude.
The power of hindsight tells me that by ignoring my democratic privilege I am ignorant about the workings of the world governments today. Being ignorant, I have no road map. Were I to minister to someone in Paradise and have them ask me the question about Man's government, it's fall and the New System, I would be hard pressed to answer. I also realise I would probably be unable to understand their question.
I have since gravitated to what is going on in the world of worldly government (since they actually represent the spiritual government behind them) rather than simply wait for the last meeting at the Kingdom Hall to tell me that Spiritual Paradise is now Material Paradise and I can return to my home and expect visitors. I mean, this is the analogy of what many JWs I knew who attended meetings were waiting for, unconcerned as I for what was happening around us because it was too complex, too fear inspiring or just not important. There is a precedence in the 20th Century for us sheep in the WW2 - and a reason the word sheep has gained a negative connotation over the years..

I still have much to learn about critical thinking but I know from experience that it takes courage to stand up and speak about unpopular truths. He seems to hit logic Bullseye.

I am also beginning to get the sense that most people who will die at Armageddon will not be destroyed by Jehovah but by mankind itself. If you allow me a simple-minded speculation, it may be that Jehovah will protect his people and that this will upset Satan, and, that this time, Jehovah will not allow Satan to touch His people which will lead to global conflict as the two political powers over earth resort to military might to settle the outcome. That speculation is a different view than the one I had where I essentially barricaded myself from understanding the world.

It's not so important where the information comes from but the critical thinking it is given that matters most. Hence Jesus could read the minds of people by they answered him, and "a babe shall lead them" really only makes sense in this understanding. I appreciate the good work you do as an info warrior, and I understand your agenda as a pure expression of faith. Keep up the good work as an example to us all - even to your detractors.
Recall that the one who lives lawless can one day become the strongest advocate for law. Some people just need the scales to fall before that happens, which is why Jehovah is so very patient I guess. Thank you for your good works.

Your question is undoubtedly a very important one. And all I can disappointingly tell you is that you will not find your answer here. I believe and so do its members that this forum is solely devoted to understanding bible prophecy and it has little or no interest in the true message of peace found in the gospel about the Christ. But what I can personally tell you though, is this, that you will definitely not find any of the so called christians on this forum-with the exception of proxynosis-showing love to their enemies. No sir, that is a gospel truth.
